  Trajectory intuition

  Radically enhances ability to predict the path of projectiles. With an added bonus to those fired, or prepared to be fired by you.

  Olfactory enhancement T1

  A subset of Sense enhancement. Enhances your sense of smell. Useful for chefs, alchemists, trackers, and anyone else who needs a good nose.

  At tier 1 it has a base efficiency of 10% maximum.

  Mental enhancement T1

  A subset of physical empowerment. This skill enhances all mental abilities in an equal and balanced way.

  At tier 1 it has a base efficiency of 10% maximum.

  Sense enhancement T1

  A subset of physical empowerment. Enhances all of your senses.

  At tier 1 it has a base efficiency of 10% maximum.

  Heat vision

  Gives you the ability to sense the temperature of things within visual range.

  Size: 5

  Dark vision

  Gives the ability to see in perfect clarity even in pitch darkness. Does not work against magical darkness.

  This was amazing! All of them were wonderful. He wished he had more points to spend. So far he hadn’t been able to get better than fifty percent with size efficiency. If that remained the case he couldn’t have them all.

  Olfactory enhancement was an easy one to remove. Sense enhancement just seemed butter in every way. Sure, more focus on the sense of smell could make him a real blood hound. But compared to better eyes, and nose.

  And as subsets of physical empowerment he could likely add as much power as he wanted into mental, sense, and olfactory enhancement. And each bit there was a bit away from the others.

  He did wonder why he was suggested this particular set of skills.

  Was it his classes?

  Yea, olfactory specifically mentioned alchemy. Trajectory intuition would help him aim spells. Mental abilities were key to rapidly weaving spells. Heat vision could help with alchemy too. Seeing in the dark would help for night hunting. And better senses were good for basically everything.

  He discounted heat and dark vision. As amazing as they were, they were expensive. And weighed against the raw power of physical empowerment. He just couldn’t do it. Maybe one day extra bodily power would seem minor. But today was not that day. The only thing that kept him from eliminating mental and sense enhancement was the fact that he assumed they would be more focused versions of the same.

  He wanted to eliminate trajectory intuition. He really did. But it kept nagging at him.

  He needed to be able to aim. That was half his job as a combat mage.

  So, he would get it. Trajectory intuition. Then split the rest in sense and mental enhancement.

  That should be a decent choice. It would mean no physical empowerment this time. But faster casting from mental enhancement. Seeing the enemy better with sense enhancement. And aiming better with trajectory intuition. That should be a massive buff to his combat abilities.

  Not that it was only for combat. Food would taste more. He would be able to think better and faster.

  He felt good about the idea.

  He went to Bev and said, “I just realized I never spent my soul points from the level up. I’m getting trajectory intuition, and splitting the rest with mental and sense enhancement. You should get your new skills as well.”

  Bev stopped mid swing. Looked at him. And said, “How could I have forgotten!”

  Bev exited the skill building fugue to the sound of Kennon cursing “the curse of 50%” apparently he couldn’t get the size efficiency any better this time either.

  She also felt the glow of an extra ten points to physical empowerment. She decided not to do any of the sub skills offered. But she did get one new skill.

  Skin reinforcement T1

  Your skin structure is altered to be more resilient. This is a fundamental change not a simple aura. You will be harder to cut, burn, or otherwise receive damage to the skin. Your skin is also resistant to forces that would transfer energy reducing internal injuries such as broken bones, although to a lesser extent.

  This comes at the cost of minor visual and textural changes.

  Effectiveness: 80%

  This should help until proper armor could be made.

  While she was building the skill, she felt a faint tingle in her skin, even through the fugue. And now it itched something fierce. She looked at her hand, it was covered in flakes of dead skin. She would need a bath.

  She pulled the arcane water jar from her pack and brushed off the dead skin. It practically turned to dust against the solvent. Yet she barely felt it.

  After cleaning a patch of her arm she squeaked at the difference.

  Her skin looked slightly metallic. It almost glistened in the sun. rubbing her fingers against it she noticed it had an almost scale like texture. On closer inspection. She could see that was correct. Her skin had turned into a mesh of tiny overlapping scales. The effect was barely noticeable. Visually. But every movement she felt the difference. She needed to bathe now, find out what was permanent and what was a result of wearing her molt.

  A few minutes later she was startled by the difference. Most of the discomfort was gone. She still felt different. But not in a bad way. Just an odd way. She could get used to it.

  But now it was time for the real test. This was never a cosmetic decision.

  She drew her knife, and poked at her finger. Nothing. Not a drop of blood. Not even pain, just a bit of pressure.

  She took a deep breath, and sliced at her arm with all her strength.

  Nothing. Maybe it left a mark? Maybe.

  She grabbed her halberd, filled it with mana, and poked her finger against the spike.

  That did it. A drop of blood welled from her finger tip. She wiped it clean and thought about what this meant.

  Her skin was almost as resistant as the tiger’s. If skills like this were on offer did she even need armor?

  She started to laugh. She knew it would be good. But this was a shock.

  Combined with the new spell category her class gave her. Body auras she would be nearly unkillable.

  Sure the first spell just made her able to use mana to boost the speed of her movements. And it was absurdly expensive. But she knew where this line of spells led. Just a few levels in it and she would be able to enhance her durability as well.

  Now though, it was time to inscribe spells. She had three free slots! The obvious choices were her new movement aura, and telekinesis. For all the blacksmithing she was doing, adding heat was a good choice too.

  Kennon had already added wind blade, telekinesis, and spark. Despite only exiting the fugue a few minutes ago Bev thought she had seen him cast it a dozen times. He really did want lightning bolt to be practicing it so much.

  She looked at her status screen. And asked Kennon to send his as well. They had grown so much. They really were becoming powers.
