Narrator's POV
Mato's Office
It had been almost a week since the st mission.
The veterans of the supernaturals, along with the newcomers, were training for an upcoming mission.
When would this mission take pce? Within a week, the Supernaturals would set out once again to investigate the area before moving on to the second part and to the second yer.
With the preparation in mind, Mato was analyzing Taoreta's and Kibishi's DNA. He was trying to confirm their supernaturals and what they could do.
How did the progress work? It depended on how their bodies functioned. But sometimes you could tell from how the person thought and felt. And sometimes it was their experiences.
Mato, at that moment, was viewing his computer as it ran the scan on the newcomers' DNA.
It took at least three days to complete. And that day was the day when the analysis would be done.
At least, that was the pn.
Mato was typing away on his computer. With his white coat on and his green hair tied in a ponytail, he was doing his best to speed the process up as much as possible.
"Supernatural file..." Mato swiped the mouse towards a picture of the files that had the names of the supernaturals of history.
Using this would run down the names and use the DNA to cut out the non-matching ones.
Beep! Beep!
"Ah! Okay! So Tao has a light type result. So, the supernaturals that rete to light can be shown only."
Mato smiled brightly at the result. But his smile faded when a picture of The Grim Reaper appeared.
"Huh? What is this?" Mato muttered and then dragged the Grim Reaper to make it bigger. Once he clicked it once more, he gnced at the information and narrowed his eyes, then deeply sighed. "Oh. Another error code."
Mato swiftly dragged the Grim Reaper file and pced it with the other files.
"Goodbye," Mato announced in an almost singing voice.
Mato sighed in relief.
"Thank goodness. Having one of them around would be painful..." Mato muttered to himself and continued clicking his mouse away.
Anyway, having the power of death was close to non-existent. If anyone had that type of power, who knew what type of crazy person was out there.... Mato clenched his fist.
Better to watch out for them. That type of mysterious, monstrous being would be the end of them if someone wielded it. They'd better keep an eye out for anyone with that power.
With those final thoughts, Mato confirmed to extract data from all the light-type supernaturals and pressed "ok".
Once those were extracted, Mato moved on to another computer next to him. He always had an extra computer in case of things like that.
"This was meant to be a backup, but I'll have to make do with it for now."
Mato adjusted himself in the seat and started to type away.
"Alright. Let's see here..."
Mato dragged the data from his backup storage and brought it up to the other computer.
He repeated the same process from before and then typed up Kibishi's name.
Beep! Beep!
It showed the results like st time.
Only now...
"Huh?!" Mato got up from his seat.
Kibishi's type was unknown.
A type that could not be determined by modern technology. Not even the advanced technology in the world could determine it. That could only mean one thing.
Kibishi's type was BEYOND mankind's knowledge. Knowledge that one could not comprehend while being alive.
And since there was nothing else that could determine that, his type could only mean one thing.
"His type... is beyond the knowledge of all supernaturals combined..." Mato whispered.
And there was only one file that was there. But since it seemed to be conflicting with the computer, the system was showing the error. That meant the picture was not avaible at that time. There were two possibilities for what it could be.
One.
The Supernatural was an entity beyond the comprehension of man.
Two.
The Supernatural was so strong, so powerful, that not even the person who had the power could comprehend it so well.
Beep! Beep!
A warning sign appeared.
" 'Warning. The current supernatural files are unstable for the network to process. Switching to standby mode.'? What?!"
Sm! Sm!
"That never happened before! Sure, errors appeared here and there, but not to this extent!" Mato smmed his hand against the computer screen.
He then slid his back on the chair and groaned.
"Greeeeaaattt! Now it's running slow..." Mato whined.
Mato grumbled a bit and then looked at the right side of his desk. "Oh well. At least I can review his files to figure it out manually in the meantime."
Mato smoothly grabbed the files and opened them.
The files contained every single human name in the underground. To have such files, the world's governments must have left them behind when the world was being taken over.
.... That was what one would think.
But in reality, over ten years ago, a few members of the government nationwide had joined forces to keep citizens in line and ensure everything was in order.
Many members were from around the world.
Without anyone to turn to, the survivors of said government handed the files to the founder, who then gave them to people close to him, such as Mato.
Mato, who could multitask if needed, was The Founder's right-hand man. However, Mato himself begged to differ.
He viewed himself as a young man in his twenties, lucky to be alive.
"Even that is thoughtful wishing..." Mato muttered.
Who would want that type of power? Having to be judged while having nothing but numbness. Being that type of supernatural would not be fun...
"Best," Mato flipped a page and saw a picture of Kibishi as a child with his eyes narrowed in boredom. "You would need to do a certain condition even to control a fraction of... the... huh..."
Mato's eyes slowly rose in surprise. He then sat up straight.
"What.... What the HELL?" Mato tossed the file on the floor and spread all of his papers. He threw them on the ground, leaving them to make a mess in his office. But Mato did not care. He had more important things to worry about right then.
He finally found a photo that he had taken from earlier in the week. A picture of Kibishi shirtless.
In the photo, Kibishi was revealing his scars. Some were on his hands, some near his chest. But the giant one from the center was big and had left a mark that destroyed his skin itself. It had healed, but it could never vanish. It would stick there until the day he died.
A scar was shown on his back in another photo as well.
It was simir to the front one.
"No way..." Mato slowly looked up at the computer screen.
"... Kibishi... died..."
Mato's eyes shook in fear.
"Oh no.... oh no!"
Mato realized what type of supernatural he was now. It did not take a genius to know what he was. If it had just dealt with death, then many divine entities fit that bill.
But since Kibishi was ALIVE and well, THAT was when the system failed.
How could someone who had a wound that big and that bad survive to tell the story?
Truth be told...
Kibishi should not have been able to survive and grow as a normal human being.
There was one being that could not have the power of life AND death...
One... that could conquer it...
