Book 5 Chapter Twenty-Three; Stormhold of the Lightning Lord

It had only been a few hours, but Jazmel was completely rejuvenated. He had been given a full restore potion by Baek, his health pumped up. It was as if his entire body was focused entirely on healing. Next his stamina was replenished as well as his Mana. He felt them both literally refill, and he had lots of Mana left over. His clothes had taken the Mana floating, around his body and used it to quickly repair his clothing. At one point he had looked bedraggled, but now he was in full recovery and well rested.

Baek stood beside him, while his friends all stood a ways away. They were in the hall of the hold, the Stormhold; the home of the Lightning Lord. The King of the city of titania and Jazmel could tell that this titan was strong.

In truth he looked much like a man, muscular with a few scars. He had been in many battles, Jazmel could tell from the sheer pressure he exuded.

“Well done, your fights were not boring at all. You all fought as if you had truly seen war or battle.” He said, sitting in his chair, slumped. He wore knee high boots, felt trousers and he was topless, but a cloak was about his shoulders; great white fur tressed his shoulders and draped down into a long cloak.

He wore bracers on both arms, magnificent gold things. They looked thick and heavy, but the lightning lord didn’t seem to even notice them. His hair was ashen grey and long, flowing down his head and around his shoulders. His eyes were like two storm gems. He was scrutinising all of them, most importantly Jazmel and rana.

“You two both fight with the vigour of titans. As the quest was made, I will offer you both a favour. What do you want from me?” he asked, his voice deep and authoritative.

“May I go first?” rana asked and Jazmel motioned for her to go first.

  “Speak.” The Lightning lord commanded.

“I am undergoing my herald trials, and my final trial was to surpass the titan climb and receive a quest from you.” She said, with her head lowered and the Lightning lord seemed to be looking over his screen and then a wry smile formed on his lips.

“Take your test, little girl. If you complete it, come back and I will reward you on top of whatever the system provides. Before you go, all of you take these.” He said and from within his cloak, he pulled forth orbs, cores.

Jazmel got one, Rana too. The others who had made it into the final ten, Gained one also, They were then made to leave, Jazmel and his friends were allowed to stay though. He still had not gotten his favour just yet, he looked down at the core in his hand. His eyes scrying it over and the system chimed with information.

Jazmel consumed it, letting it dissolve into his core. In truth, since the tyrant change. His body functioned to perfection, but now he was something else. He was a grand thing. His was like a fine engine and he was running on all cylinders.

“I can see that the core did nothing for you. Interesting.” The Lightning Lord said and he and Jazmel locked eyes. The storm in his eyes made Jazmel’s own eyes tingle and the king, the lord of the city smiled.

“Come little titan, what favour can I offer you. I can feel the traces of the fountain on you.” He said and Jazmel looked at him in surprise.

“Do you know where the fountain is?” Jazmel asked and the titan king leaned forward to peer down at Jazmel.

“I have been charged to protect the final fountain. Do you seek it?” he said and Jazmel simply brought out the complete primordial core.

  DING!

YOU HAVE GAINED ACCESS TO SEEK THE FINAL FOUNTAIN!

The system sung to him as the notification screen popped up. Jazmel looked at the lightning lord and he beckoned his head, nodding at Jazmel with respect.

“You are more than meets the eye if I were permitted. I would join you in this bout, but I am afraid, I am simply tasked with guarding this place. But this is not of your rewards, this is a personal quest. I still can offer you a favour.” He explained to Jazmel.

“Well, might you give me a quest regarding my race? My species changed after I tempered my body and now the system says I must cement that change.” Jazmel said and the titan king edged forward, suddenly curious.

“What is your species and your tempered body?” he asked, his voice cool and even but Jazmel could see the excitement dancing in amongst the storms in his eyes.

“The system says I am a Tyrant, and my tempered body is that of the domineering tyrant.” He said, suddenly self-conscious and without a reason as to why. He nearly jumped when the Lightning lord threw his head back and laughed.

A deep belly turning laugh and when he stopped, he saw everyone studying him curiously.

“No wonder you fought as you did, only a tyrant could be so wonderful and yet foreboding. Yes, little tyrant I will give you a quest.” He tapped his screen, Jazmel couldn’t see what he was doing, but soon his own screen set off and a quest popped up.

He looked at the system screen and simply closed it down. That was new to him, but he didn’t have a moment to recoup and ask questions. No he would deal with that later; they were at the final fountain, and he wanted to face it now.

“Can we attend to the fountain now?” he asked and the lightning lord, did as he was bid. Raising his hand and flaring his Mana, it felt like Jazmel was in the midst of a storm, but it soon dwindled. The ground between Jazmel and the king’s palisade groaned as a machination began to move. As it did this, Jazmel watched with wonder. As before, a seamless ground now descended into a spiral staircase before his very eyes.

“I offer you luck.” The lightning lord said as Jazmel, and his friends began to descend the stairs.
