That was a fun fight. Except for all the pain I was in. That really sucked, but I think that made it all the more satisfying when I finally won. I can’t help but grin from ear to ear. Though my glee seems to only upset the cultist I spared even further. She has stopped speaking entirely and is just staring in abject terror.
I thought her scared and confused demeanor was funny at first, but now I just feel bad. I should try and calm her down.
Getting a second look at her, she has quite the elegant face. She has silver hair and her eyes are gold. Not only are her eyes gold, but they also seem to be glowing slightly. That detail distracts me to the point I almost missed her long pointed ears.
Wait a minute “Are you an elf?”
She jolts at the question. Her eyes widen when she reaches for her face.
“My mask!” Her eyes darted around the room. When she sees the mask I yoink it off the ground before she can even reach for it. She squeaks when she sees me playfully hold the mask above my head. “Please oh great demon. Will you return my mask to me?”
Oh? She thinks I'm a demon? That’s hilarious. That gives me a glee that's impossible to hide. I involuntarily smiled a big wide smile as I looked down at her. “And why should I do that? Tell me. Why should I humor someone with arrogance to summon the devil's daughter herself!”
Her mouth drops as her wide eyes widen even further, almost being pushed out from their sockets.
I can’t help myself, I really can’t. I wanted to calm her, but when she said I was a demon I had to run with it. It was too good of an opportunity.
“I’m so sorry your highness! I was merely trying to summon a lowly Nav Imp! I had no intention to bring your greatness to the realm of mortals!”
“No matter. I have already taken the lives of your comrades as punishment. Now then, are you going to answer my question?”
She stammers for a moment “Q- Question?”
My face grows cold and I stare at her with dead eyes “Do you intend to make me repeat myself?” Earlier she referred to me as ‘your highness’ so I think I can sell my act more by being a spoiled princess. I guess being the devil's daughter would make me royalty in some way.
The cultist starts shaking her head as she searches her mind for what I asked previously. Her eyebrows spring upward “uh- uh. Yes! I’m an elf!”
“Cool! Uh, I mean. I’ve never seen one of your kind before. Tell me your name.” I’m glad she told me what I actually wanted to know instead of trying to answer one of the rhetorical questions I asked for show.
“Eva Le’tain your highness.”
Eva Le’tain, very fantasy. This is so cool! A real, honest to god, elf is in front of me. Oh man, I’m so glad I didn’t kill her. “Alright Eva, where are we?”
“Oh. Yes, we are in a dungeon right now.”
Oh shit. I thought this was some sort of cultist cave. When I asked, I meant what country or state we were in. So this is a dungeon, huh. Aren’t dungeons supposed to be monster lairs or something? “Yeah, that’s obvious. I meant what country or kingdom or whatever. Hell, I don’t even know what continent I’m on.”
Eva furrows her brows “You don’t?”
Uh-oh. Not knowing where I am is apparently suspicious. I don’t want the lie to fall apart so quickly. I should be more assertive. “Yeah, I don’t! I’m not supposed to be here, remember. Because you fucked up your summoning.”
“Ah. I-I’m sorry. Yes um. We are on the continent of Soteria, but we aren’t in any state. This is undisputed territory.”
Undisputed territory? Why? “Why?”
“Uh- um. What do you mean, why?”
Ugh. Elves. “I meant why is the territory undisputed. Surely some nation would claim it, even if the land is completely useless.”
Eva takes a moment, like she is digesting what she just heard. “Yes, um. Yes. The reason this area is undisputed is a long story, your highness. Um, can I ask? Why does such things matter to you?”
Crap. My roaming curiosity got the better of me. I’m supposed to be a demon. Welp, I guess I’m a curious demon. “You ask why I want to know?” I walk over to Eva who is still sitting on the floor. I lean over her, getting a few inches from her face. I break into an unhinged smile. “Because.”
Eva starts sweating and trembling. I think she’s trying to speak, but she can’t get a word out. Eva looks like she is about to pee herself.
Oh. She did pee herself.
Eva’s eyes flutter shut and she falls backward. It seems I completely knocked her out. “Whoops.”
I didn’t mean to do that. I just wanted to reinforce the idea I was a demon. I guess I went too far. I step over her body, and puddle, and get another look around the cave.
Well, I say cave, but this is a dungeon. I’m standing in a large open cavity with only one exit. I can only see a few feet into that path before it fades into complete darkness. I’m tempted to just go for it. Just head out into the dungeon and go explore.
As I step forward a wave of exhaustion hit’s me. It nearly brings me to my knees. I almost forgot I got summoned in the middle of the night. Then I had a conversation with who I think is a god. Then I got into a fight I almost died in.
If I just wander into the dungeon, I’m gonna get myself killed. Aren’t I?
I let out a big animated sigh. Turning around, I see Eva collapsed on the floor. I would also be a dick if I left her here too. She would also be a very helpful ally in a dungeon. My Observe only gives me question marks, but I know she is strong.
Maybe it was a bad idea to antagonize her so much. Alright, I made up my mind. I won’t leave her.
I walk over to a nearby wall and sit against it. I relax and release the tension from my body. I would say I get comfortable, but I'm not. The rocky surface is anything but comfortable. You’d think it would be impossible to rest here, but as soon as I sat down the fatigue just kept rolling in. The adrenalin must be wearing off.
My eyes are heavy, but I feel something is keeping me up. I look around the cave-like dungeon and a tired smile rests on my face. I’m so excited. This is a completely new world. This is actually happening. My smile grows larger.
This is real.

“So… Cool…”
My eyes close and darkness takes me.
---
I wake up to a large man with a black mask standing over me. His face is a few inches away from mine. I punch reflexively. Eva’s mask flies off her head, but she barely flinches from my strike.
A moment later I process what just happened. I stood up ready to snap at Eva, but something else distracted me. Punching her didn't hurt, at all. Last time I punched her at full force my wrist snapped like a twig.
I stare at my hand for a moment before Eva finally breaks from her stupor.
“Ah, yes. I’m sorry your highness for disturbing you. It’s just I've never seen a demon sleep before.”
Last night's events finally return to memory. Oh shit, I’m supposed to be a demon and guess demons don’t need to sleep apparently. And Eva just saw me sleeping and there's no getting around that.
Welp, I guess I’m the enigmatic curious demon that needs to sleep. “Well, I’m not like most demon’s.”
“Yes, I know. You're the daughter of one of the Devils. It’s natural that your physiology is beyond the comprehension of a mere cultist.”
Huh. she made an excuse all on her own. I shoot her a grin which visibly unnerves her. She’s still completely terrified by me too.
I wonder… “Hey, Eva Le’tain.”
Her gaze darkens at the use of her full name. “Yes uhh. Yes, your highness.”
“I’m just curious, what's your Sanity at?”
For the first time, she doesn’t look completely scared by my questions. “My Sanity? Um, yes. I’ll check now.” Her gaze drops down, probably looking at her status screen. Eva’s eyes widen and shock covers her face. “Impossible.”
“What?”
“It’s at 82 percent. I’ve never seen someone's Sanity that low before, let alone my own. How did that even happen?”
Ah, there it is. It was my Obscene Presence that did damage to her sanity. That's probably why she’s so amenable to the idea that I'm a demon.
Wait, did she say the 82 percent is low. Jeez, I wonder what that says about me. “Hey Eva, what happens when your sanity gets too low?”
Her gaze shifts the two corpses on the ground. “Short answer, that.” She looks very distressed again for some reason. Ahh… The last thing I want is her to piss herself again.
“Long answer?”
Eva looks back at me almost confused. I try to make myself not look threatening, but I don’t think it’s working. She’s sweating bullets. I sigh and start walking towards her, which she predictably flinches at.
I go to her side and wrap an arm around her shoulder. Confusion finally over powers her fear for her life. “Look Eva. I’m not trying to kill you, I’m not trying to threaten you, and I’m not trying to sleep with you.”
Eva snaps her head to face me and her brows are furrowed. The joke obviously flew over her head. I let go of her and raised my hands defensively. “That was a joke. I’m just trying to get you to relax a little. I really don’t mean to hurt you anymore.”
Eva frowns at me. “Tiffany, What do you want from me?”
Oooh. That's the million dollar question isn’t it. Well, I let her live on whim, but I can’t say that. Hmm, let’s see. What do I want? I rub my chin thoughtfully. Eva is becoming more uncomfortable by the minute.
I snap my fingers. “A teacher! Wait, no.” I rub my temples. “A comrade? Nah, that sounds too serious.” I look back at Eva who looks confused again. I swear that girl only has two emotions. “A friend?”
Eva freezes. I can almost hear the gears in her head screeching to a halt. “A- a friend?”
“Yeah, a friend. Truth be told, I’m very much lost and have lots of questions. So, I need a friend. Wanna be friends?”
Eva blinks and opens and closes her mouth a few times. She closes her eyes to think of an answer. After a moment she finally opens them. “Yes- um, yes. We can be friends.”
I smile, not a sadistic smile to scare her, but a real genuine smile. “Yay! My first elf friend!” I jump at Eva and give her a hug that causes her to flinch. She doesn’t hug back of course. After a moment I push myself off her.
“Now that we’re friends, will you explain how Sanity works?”
Eva blinks for a moment and finally gets on with her explanation. “Sanity is an intrinsic status that all beings with a mind have. Unlike Vitality, Stamina, and Mana, Sanity is unaffected by the increase of stats. The only way Sanity is affected is through psychic damage.”
If that’s the case, how the hell did my Sanity get so damaged? I thought my Sanity was damaged because I was stressed, but I guess that wasn’t it. Eva continues.
“Anything above 70 percent is considered safe. 70-50 percent, you will start hallucinating. 50-30 percent is a full disconnect from reality, and anything below 30 percent is lethal.”
Well that’s terrifying. That means that the two other cultists Sanity dropped below 30 percent in an instant, because of Obscene Presence. Moderate psychic damage, my ass.
“Not many people know how Sanity works. The only reason I know this much is because I’m a cultist.”
“What does being a cultist have to do with that?”
Eva stares for a moment. “Because demons are the only thing capable of dealing psychic damage.”
“Oh.”
The implications finally hit like a truck sending me to another world. The reason Eva thinks I’m a demon, isn’t because of her damaged Sanity. It’s because I dealt psychic damage.
I grin. It’s the perfect setup to the perfect lie. Amazing.
“That’s good to know. I’m glad we’re friends now Eva.”
She shifts uncomfortably, but at least she isn’t peeing herself anymore. “Yes um. Me too?”
---
Eva Le’tain had made a terrible mistake. She had done something she can’t take back anymore. What she did would be considered an achievement by her peers, if she had meant to do it. And if she had done it in a controlled environment, she would be proud of this accomplishment.
But she did not. Eva had summoned the offspring of one of the Devils of Hell, and now it is loose in the mortal realm.
At first when Eva had performed the summoning, she had thought some sort of cleric intercepted it. That this woman somehow detected the summoning and forced the target of the summoning to herself then came to destroy us all.
Eva had heard of such horror stories happening from her superiors. This is evidently not the case. If that was what happened, she would easily be over level 100 if not more to pull something like that off.
This woman was barely level 9! She was even lower leveled when they had fought! It didn’t make any sense, but Eva knew that she was hostile.
But right when Eva was about to finish this woman off, the demon finally revealed itself.
What Eva saw at that moment was horrifying. It was as if space itself inverted. Reality and reason split. The impossible wore a coat of broken logic. Its glare forced the incomprehensible into Eva's mind.
And Eva was fortunate. The mask she wore covered most of the horrific form from her eyes. She immediately forced her hands to her face and closed her eyes. It was already too late.
Information of the inconceivable had entered Eva’s mind. Her mind acted violently. She involuntarily, on instinct, tore her own mind apart to rid herself of that cancerous logic.
It was extremely painful for Eva.
Then she had to speak with this demon. Eva then realized that they were completely insane.
Eva eventually realized something. She could send this demon back to hell. Eva was a Demonic Summoner, and her class skill Minor Demonic Regent had the ability to send her summon back to their origin by force, if they were lower leveled than herself.
It didn’t work.
Eva started to panic. As Eva quickly searched her mind for another solution while maintaining a conversation with this demon, the demon started to approach her. Eva wanted to run, but her legs gave out from fear. The demon smiled in a way that didn’t fit its human face.
Eva fainted.
---
When Eva came too, after an unknown amount of time, she immediately felt gross. Still dazed from being unconscious, it took her a second to realize that she had made another terrible mistake.
But before the embarrassment could completely overwhelm Eva a thought interrupted her. Where did that demon go?
Eva immediately stood up and swung her head around until she found the collapsed figure of a woman. She was propped up against a wall and was… Sleeping?
No, she couldn’t forget. That’s a demon. It was probably some trick to get her to lower her guard. Eva wasn’t going to be fool-
“Eng-g-g-gh”
Eva paused “what.”
No, NO. That just confirms that this is an act. That snore was too perfect to be real. She can kill Eva at any time. She is being toyed with.
Eva then used this opportunity to think of a plan. There was actually one more class skill she could apply in this situation. This demon was still technically her summon, so Eva decided to use Summoner's Insight.

The devil's daughter. But which Devil.
A few possibilities run through Eva’s mind. It clicks. There can only be one possible Devil that she is the offspring of. Only one being that can create such a perfect human form.
Nyarlathotep, The King of Shapes. Tiffany Day must be an Infant Eldritch Horror.
