Jeff woke up one morning not to the gentle glow of the crystal-made light in his room but to a glowing box he could not immediately blink away.
After fully reading the message he decided to look at his status sheet to confirm the change in his cp
With that he brought a hand to the bedstand to turn on the lights with a smile on his face. Considering each soldier still only cost 1 cp, then he just got two cp as a discount as his boss automatically took command of the ten that have been trained by the good Sargent Mar. Knowing him, he would know the next step to take them too, so he did not consider that too much, instead he started to think of wanting to try to get two new types of units unlocked.
When he thinks of phantasy settings the main one that comes to mind is a mage. Shooting fireballs and all that fun stuff. And on the opposite side of the spectrum is the knight. After considering it a bit more as he started to get ready for his day, he decided to do one of each. With his morning routine quickly behind him, he found himself in the open training field where several other otherworlders were already into their training routines. It did not take long for him to find his squad of summons standing around a Sargent Mar speaking to one of his underlings. A sudden shift of the entire unit at the same time, including his boss, entering a straitened posture and putting their right fist over where their hearts would be caused him to pause then shoo the underling away.

“ I take it this change is your doing? I was expecting another week to beat them into an evolution.”
Jeff looked at the sargeant and then at his unit and decided to focus on them first.
“ At ease.”
In an instant, they shifted to a parade rest stance. Which caused Mar to raise an eyebrow.
“ So? Are you going to explain or do you think you good enough to do this on your own?”
Jeff sighs relaxing himself before stiffing back up to the proper posture he been taught over the last weeks.
“ I got a notice that they evolved into privates. They automatically equipped into the prepared soldier kit’s that I had in my vault. As soon as I woke up seeing the message I came strait here.”
Mar nods his head understanding.
“ Sounds like the Dalmas Kin Soldier progression system, which is not surprising. It is the one I was aiming for. I know you been educating yourself about the other races, but this one is extinct. Quite recently too. They are probably the main reason we natives are in this situation we are in. For both the good and bad. You see the Dalmas Kin are lizard kin. They had a small empire about eighty years ago that was built on this system. To skip to the highlights, the Dalmas Kin breed really fast. Usually having dozens of young a year to a pair of them. And they become full adults in two. Now, as you can imagine, that forces a lot of mouths to feed. So they were a right menace to their neighbors. So, as you probably guessed, they specialize in attrition warfare. So when the demons came to them, they held and they held. Until they didn’t. When the hero’s reached the area during their push into the demon lands. They were packed shoulder to shoulder as far as the eye could see. They used large area tactical skills like a fat merchant eats snacks. Just so they can retreat. Rumor says over five million demons died during the retreat. Most of them nothing more than the equivalent of a level ten to twenty individual.”
Jeff nods imagining it.
“ But in those numbers, refreshing every day.”
Mar nods his head in return.
“ That area is now known as the Fields of Blood. No one wants to go there. Now back to this system. The reason why I was aiming for it is because as a summoner, your soldiers are infinitely renewable as long as you can renew them. No need to wait a decade for an orphan to grow enough and then be trained. If your evolution allows for returning cards instead of complete destruction of your summons, then I succeeded.”
Jeff decides to just show the message to Mar and he raised his eyebrow again in surprise before nodding.
“ Questions, just know I did aim for this does not mean I know the progression of your powers.”
Jeff considered it a moment then looked at his summons again.
“ I doubt you know, but where do they come from? What happens when they die?”
Mar raised his shoulders as a shrug in response.
“ You’re right, I don’t know. Most don’t.”
