Chapter 17
“Hello ?”
No response.
“Anybody here ?”
Silence.
“Jo…? Old man …? Grandma …? The arrogant piece of shit ?”
The young woman sneered.
“Funny that he wouldn’t respond to that.”
She sat down.
“It’s so dark here. Can’t see shit.”
The woman stood up and wandered around. Time passed, she looked at her watch.
“Is it broken ?”
She tapped on it as if it would make it work. The woman clicked her tongue, sighed then growled.
“What the fuck is going on… Better walk straight ahead until I find something.”
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
She couldn’t tell if it was minutes or hours that passed when she finally saw lights. She ran towards it.
“Finally !”
The woman was very surprised by what she was seeing. Thousands and thousands of rectangles suspended in the air, each with very different sceneries. She tried to touch some of them, but her hand passed through it.
“This is disturbing.”
She looked at them more closely.
“Is it moving ? It’s like TV.”
She walked along the rectangles.
“There’s no end to it.”
The woman sighed.
“I’m tired.” She said while yawning.
The young woman took enough step backs to have a good view of the rectangles. She sneered again.
“I’m a security man now.”
She laid down and closed her eyes. The woman woke up, freezing. She couldn’t tell how much time passed. She took off her scarf, the one that belonged to her late friend Louana, and wrapped it around her arms. She could see steam coming out of her mouth. She tried to look around but nothing had really changed. The whole area was still completely dark, and the rectangles were still standing in suspension in the air. The young woman decided to go look for a warmer place. She was walking a few meters away from the rectangles when she stumbled upon something.
“What is that ?”
She got down on her hands and knees and fumbled her way along. She touched something squishy.
“Disgusting.”
She kept progressing in the dark until her head hurt something. The woman grumbled. She palpated the object, it seemed like it had two armrests and a backrest. The young woman cautiously stood up. She could feel something else.
“Is that… hair ?”
She palpated more what appeared to be someone’s face.
“This is crazy… And interesting.”
The woman sat back on the ground, her head against the person’s legs, and closed her eyes.
