Chapter 34: “One Portal, One Plan.” – Part 6.

Instinct told Sylvie to jump up and head back to ial Heights and fix as much as she could as fast as she could. Two hundred years of living uhe prote of The Veil, had given her retive peace to hunt and survive with little fear of people actually doing much to stop her. Aside from Phantasmagoria, She’d been with Amos or on her own and the popuce was oblivious to the world around them. Yet, it slowly came to her that she was not in this mess by herself and didn’t o oversee and trol the oute. “Casey, love.” Sylvie began with her head now clearer to the circumstances, “We have to keep on our course, I would love to do something about Tatum, but we are simply too far away and our ‘bracer’ will be what ultimately closes the portal.” Sylvie got out of her chair ao the coud pulled Casey onto it with her. “Let me send this to Jason.” With inhuman speed and accuracy, Sylvie typed out what she knew about the quartz that art of the portal. “Jason, you have the information. Do what you , we are waiting for Kody to go with their idea.” She sighed, “Unfortunately we might have to wait one more night, depending on how fast we get to this town.”

“One more night.” Jester replied, his voice cold as the grave. “I don’t think we have anht Sylvie. I’ll tell Daniel, please hurry.”

A ti of beeps ter, Sylvie’s pho silent and after a few seds the s went bck. “They will have to deal with Tatum.” Sylvie brushed her fihrough Casey’s strawberry-blonde hair and gazed lovingly into her partner’s bright eyes. “They have Amber…” She ughed, “...hopefully that will give them the edge.”

Without warning, Casey stood up and jerked Sylvie off the coud stumble-pulled the elder vampire behind her. “No. Just no, no..” Casey muttered to herself as she basically dragged Sylvie into their bedroom.

It took a sed or two with a few and a couple of inplete questions before Sylvie simply let Casey do her thing. It was only after Casey climbed in the bed and began shedding her clothing that Sylvie shut their bedroom door and looked at her girlfriend with a healthy smile on her face. “You ’t possibly be excited.” Sylvie teased and pointed between Casey’s legs.

“I’m not.” Casey serenely ceded, “I want to spend what aloime we .” Casey admitted and tucked her nude form uhe b. “Just..well, I know it’s not the best time and there is lots of stress..” Casey nearly pleaded, “...I just want to be with the person I love a little while longer.” With a lopsided yet charming smile, Casey patted the bed beside her.

forted by the soft patting Casey offered, Sylvie uood with crity what Casey was referring to. Emotions flooded the elder vampire and made her tingle all over and Sylvie swore that she smelled fresh pansies on a rainy autumn evening. She didn’t know whether or not it was Casey’s worried words or the sudden influx of overwhelming passion that ed her, but Sylvie found herself stripping off her own clothing. “When has timing ever mattered with us, Casey?” Sylvie cooed tenderly, then slipped uhe b and curled into Casey. “I love you too, Casey Rivers.” Although she khat the words didn’t express the full depth of what she felt, Sylvie felt that being together was more important. Takiime to appreciate her partner, Sylvie twisted her legs with Casey’s and pressed herself into Casey’s form, enjoying the sensation of her skin prig all over. Quietly, Sylvie breezed her hand through Casey’s marawberry mane, untangling it the best she could.

Laying with Sylvie ed around her like a blue-gray haired gift, Casey found herself mesmerized by the twin half-moon irises that had always looked at Casey with a delicate desired affe. Part of Casey recoiled from the knowledge that she’d kept the lovely tanned vampire at arms distance for almost a year without expressirue feelings. It didn’t seem fair in Casey’s mind that she might only have a week with the one person who somehow filled every necessary aspect of her life. Gut-wreng tension built up within Casey as she fessed to herself yet again how Sylvie had the right answer for any situation and knew how to resolve issues in a way that Casey could both uand ahe answer. “You do it with a smile, you know.” Casey calmly stated out of the dead silend pulled Sylvie as close as she could, crushing their bare chests as one.

Unready for the sudden movement and the subsequent admission, Sylvie took her time and finished with Casey’s hair a along her partner’s shoulder, making little heartfelt circles with her fingers over Casey’s athletic curve. Since Casey had discovered her ability to feel emotion before it happened, Sylvie hadn’t bothered to try and hide any part of herself. Emanating te and half-hearted disbelief, Sylvie nuzzled Casey’s nose ahe wave of love echh her as though she’d screamed it at the top of her lungs over a yon. Although fine, Sylvie’s hair on her arm stood up a untrolled shivers along her spine, which she expressed with a heavy sigh. Wearily taking in what Casey said, Sylvie pulled herself out of the warm lull that existed in her mind and mao respond. “Mmm, What am I doing with smiles? Other than looking at the woman I care for so much that I smell pansies.” Willing to keep the status quo, Sylvie resisted the urge to find Casey’s lips and show her partly what she meant to her. “I find myself happy to be around you…” Sylvie raked her fingernails along Casey’s back. “...I have since we met, so why shouldn’t I smile?”

Laying perfectly still as Sylvie worked her fingers lightly over her swimmer’s frame, Casey cmped her mouth shut when Sylvie’s delicious exploration found her hips, and traced the small humps with her fingers. “You found me…proted save me from myself.” Casey affirmed with a gentle love love-stained whisper. “All with a smile, one of love and not possession. A smile of passion and hidden desire.” Casey blinked her sunlit eyes, “Bound us as one by giving your blood…your everything to me.”
