Chapter 35 – “Gypsy Road.” – Part 2.

Pursing her lips and crossing her arms, Casey decided to get all of her fear in the open. “Sylvie. I want to believe that the vision was a warning about the material and not an instruction manual. Is there any other power source? Is there another way?” She tugged on Sylvie’s backpack. “Look at what you are about to do. You are going to use most of your blood just going into ghostform to get into the mountain thing, grab some oak barrels of vampire blood … either ced or containing some radioactive element that killed the vampires harvesting in it in the first pce.” Casey began rubbing her long curved eyebrows, “Then we are going to cmp the thing onto the ring and hope like hell it falls through the portal so we aren’t all destroyed?”

“Yeah, that about sums it up.” Sylvie shrugged and pced her hand on Casey’s shoulder. “I have a question though.” She watched as Casey looked up, “What if it was a warning and not a foretold future? What was that warning? Don’t go to the town, or this is what your town could be?” Sylvie stopped and handed Casey a helmet, “Keep in mind that Colonial Heights is already burning to the ground.”

Confronted with the reality, Casey stood quietly until she buckled the helmet. “Sylvie love, I didn’t actually see your vision. I’m gonna have to take your word on it.” Casey stammered as she searched for an answer that made sense. “You’re right, the city is already in ashes.” Casey hopped onto the motorcycle and waited. “Maybe I just want it to be a warning. I am not thrilled about the concept of this thing … detonating. In fact I hate it.”

Tucking her card back into her purse, Sylvie mirrored Casey and climbed aboard the bike then started the engine. “I would rather not have to deal with that either. It only seemed to excite Kody.” Sylvie ughed and kicked the motorcycle into gear. “Sadly, it was that stupid book that caused it all.” Sylvie half-twisted to face Casey. “Which is our ‘family’. I mean Vasia is the matriarch. If she hadn’t written it then the portal would have never been built.”

“Hard to bme her for getting visions out of her head. I have a hard enough time with emotional distress before and after it happens. Like getting a double whammy to the head or something.” Casey confessed and began watching the cars whiz by. “So. It’s vampire technology and our family that caused all of this. Lovely.” Finally coming to the inevitable conclusion, Casey id her head once more on Sylvie’s back. “Let’s get there and get this stupid barrel or two out. I am starting to fear your idea of fun, missy.”

Quickly assessing the time based on the height of the Halloween crescent moon, Sylvie opted to get back on the road to keep the conversation afloat. A fun little wheelie and heavy acceleration afterwards, Sylvie was in the middle of traffic and ughing to herself mentally as she deftly got through heavy traffic with supernatural ease. “Alright.” Sylvie activated the microphone in her helmet. “I guess I need to get this out of my head, as the confusion has been rolling around since we left the house.”

“I’ve felt it.” Casey snickered in response. “I just waited for you to say something.”

Right about the time Sylvie began to answer Casey and expin in detail her little internal argument about technology, a set of blue and red lights fshed in the distance behind her. “Fuck. I am sure that was because of me.” Sylvie slipped the bike over to the right and slowed to a stop. “Halloween of all fucking nights.” Sylvie removed her helmet and sighed. “Can’t even gmour this cop.”

“Just rex.” Casey ughed and popped her own headgear off, then shook out her wavy auburn and coppery hair, then made sure that Sylvie’s blue-gray cornrows were untangled. “Let’s hear everything, then decide. I have a bit of a pn.” Casey looked behind her and noticed it was a well-built guy in uniform who had stepped out of the police cruiser. “Perfect.” She quickly unbuttoned her blouse and leaned provocatively and protectively on Sylvie. “Just answer him, Sylvie.”

Slowly approaching the twin vampires, the officer did a slow walk around the motorcycle and then stopped where he could see both women easily. “Good..” He stammered and cleared his throat. “I..um, please shut off the engine.” While he observed Sylvie’s fwless move to shut off the motorcycle, he tapped on his bright silver namepte. “O-osif…Officer Perkins.”

“Hello, Officer Perkins.” Casey cooed and sighed, “What can we do t-for you Officer?” Casey raised one of her long sexy shaped eyebrows.

Doing his best to maintain his self-control, Officer Perkins cmped his hands behind his back and tapped nervously on the metal ticket book that he’d brought with him. “License, pl-please.” He looked at Casey and jolted when he noticed that her lips were suddenly rich red and more plump than he thought. “Y-you as..as well ma’am.” He paused to watch Sylvie, and as the elder vampire handed him both sets of identification, he waved a couple of fingers. “I…you, speeding.” He scratched his forehead. “Let me run these fast and I will be right b-back.” He stammered when he saw Sylvie’s irises shift to match the waning moon above him. “Your…eyes..”

“Humm?” Sylvie offered meekly and leaned back into Casey. “My eyes? Officer Perkins, we will wait patiently. Take your time.” She nuzzled Casey’s cheek and smiled. After the officer found the will to walk away and check out their licenses, Sylvie only uttered one word to her lover. “Slut.”

“Me? Where did you suddenly get that cute southern accent and become humble as a mouse.” Casey pyed and adjusted her ample chest so more was squished up for the officer when he came back. “I couldn’t resist. I know boobs always work, so I took a chance on lesbians.”

“There are times when I wish I had your life experience.” Sylvie leaned back on Casey’s shoulder and pyfully made her pstic bows click as her hair rolled down her partner’s shoulder. “Too much?”

“Nope, keep selling it girlie.” Casey affirmed and used one of her fangs to open a small hole in her tongue then carefully dotted her blood on her lower lip to make it look more sultry. “Okay, here he comes. Just keep being a mouse and let me answer things, if he even asks. He loves your eyes and the demure country girl thing you have.”
