Chapter 88: Lax Confrontation.
Gemi: “Are you two… Higher Beings?” She weakly asked.
Faith: “Yes.” She answered, lazily flicking her hair back, clearly bored.
Gemi: “( ’-’ ~)”
Not that long ago, other Higher Beings threatened to turn this place in a war-torn wreck. But, instead of that, there seemed to be… a ceasefire put in place by them.
Though this meant that all mortals here didn’t die in the crossfire, those Higher Beings still took control over this kingdom. The strongest one was now the queen, while the others… did whatever they wished to do.
Gemi: “Is it… you aren’t part of the Game, are you?” She spoke, worried to the highest level.
Celia: “We are, why ask this?” She replied with a yawn, also bored.
The adventurers looked to the guild leader. In times before, Gemi was the most powerful around, always leading them to victory.
Seeing her struggle to not shake like a coward, everyone here was tense. Sensing that this was the best time she could get, Gemi ordered them all to disperse.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Gemi: “Then… I won’t hold you all up any longer.” She said with a forced smile, ready to flee.
The battles between Higher Beings… was something that no mortal should ever get involved in. With Faith and Celia both being Players, and their power far, far outweighing her own, Gemi just wished to run away.
Celia: “Wait.” She said with a warm tone, instantly catching Gemi, her hand now resting on the woman’s shoulder.
Gemi: “…”
Fear filled her mind, as even this simple act… proved Celia’s strength. The Higher Being didn’t even use any real power, but Gemi was completely unable to move or escape Celia’s hold.
Gemi: “Y-yes?” She finally replied, shakily turning her head to look Celia in the eyes.
Celia: “The other Players… where are they located?” She asked with a smile.
The guild leader didn’t know how to answer this question. After all, Gemi knew very well how Faith had killed a large portion of them.
In truth, this is why she bothered to face them. Since they fought so many other Higher Beings, shouldn’t they be weak? Though, this was a wrong assumption on Gemi’s part. Something which she is currently, inwardly kicking herself for assuming…
Gemi: “There… there are only a few left in this city.” She answered.
Celia: “I know. They’re at the castle, yes?” She replied, letting go of the woman.
Gemi: “…” “Why ask me if she already knew?… Is this… woman, a Higher Being, just messing with me?!” She thought, scared out of her mind.
Celia: “No, no. That wasn’t my intention. I just wanted to make sure that there weren’t any Players hiding by secret means.” She clarified.
Gemi: “( o_o)”
With her race, Celia could easily guess what a mortal was thinking. And, even if she could, Celia didn’t agree with mind reading Magic. Celia didn’t read Gemi’s mind, but the guild leader assumed she did, renewed, fresh, terror now ruminating in her mind.
