Volume 8. Chapter 2: No Use Crying. (Chapter 703.)

  Chapter 2: No Use Crying.

At the very least, even if she fails to come up with the Coins, Albert wouldn’t force her to do anything fucked up to pay her dues.

Albert, besides being the one in control of the slums, truly did have a good reputation, and decent morals. For a slum lord, that is…

  Ding!

Celia didn’t compin much, as, the protection payments, really were for protection. If it wasn’t for Albert’s gang, the slums would be a nightmare hellscape, rather than just a dreary pce for the down-and-outs.

An example… would be the Adventurer’s Guild. In this city, it had branches in each section. For the slums, commoners area, and the noble area. Thanks to the slum lord of this area, despite being next to shuttered and dipidated buildings, this Guild branch was pristine.

Fair: “Hello, first time? How might I help you?” She asked, still standing behind the gss-enclosed counter.

Celia: “It is… something that can’t be spoken out loud.” She replied, nervous.

Fair: “Very well, let us go to a private room. Ah, I am Fair, by the way.” She proposed with a smile, before exiting her safe post, and then leading Celia further into the building.

  A Bit Later.

Basically, in this world, if you had a System, it was very, VERY rare for you to be poor. In fact, 99% of those in the slums were people who didn’t have a System.

Celia clearly had one, but she couldn’t use it. Instead, unlike every other System, it spoke to her, and just told Celia to wait. No one that Celia asked knew why this was, but the girl didn’t ever bother to ever ask anyone who would, or could, give her a decent answer. Celia expined this to Fair.

Fair: “I see…” “Guild Leader, we have an irregur present. It is… your wife.” She said in her mind, directing it to a certain person.

Celia: “Is there… anything that I can do to fix my System? I am a bit… in the need of Coins.” She asked, embarrassed.

Midas: “Give her bags of each value of Coin, and send Celia on her way.” She ordered, doing the same as Fair just did.

Fair: “…But, someone like this is…” She was cut off.

Midas: “Celia will not awaken her System via any of our intervention. It took so many sacrifices on my end to get into the same Dimension as Celia…” She said with a stern tone.

The moment that Celia walked into the Guild, Fair knew who she was. How could she not? The Guild Leader, Midas, instructed all employees on the appearance of Celia, and what they should do in case of her showing up here.

Midas was aware of Celia living in the slums, but couldn’t do anything about it. The woman had to be careful to not anger the current Will of this Universe, who was a major stickler for the rules, even on the best of days…
