Chapter 7: Exposed!

  [Ding, Constitution +1]

  [Acquired skill: Water Magic LV1]

[Unlocked new evolution path] Low-Rank Ocean Skeleton

[Low-Rank Ocean Skeleton] A skeleton from the ocean, capable of manipulating water currents.

It feels great to be alive.

Seeing Eric lying on the ground without any change, Lucia's expression shifted from anticipation back to disappointment. She even kicked him and shouted, "Next one."

Eric got back up from the ground and started wandering around. In reality, he was gloating over the various ways his new batch of colleagues—and skill libraries—were meeting their end. It had to be said that watching other skeletons die when he was out of danger was actually kind of entertaining.

Damn it, he had turned into a real weirdo. Just a while ago, he had been a newly transformed skeleton, too scared to even leave the skeleton den. He never expected to end up like this. Was this what falling into depravity felt like?

Another batch of colleagues had been sent off, and the succubi were now looking at him with strange eyes. From then on, it wasn't Eric who had to hang around the succubi; instead, they were the ones vying to get close to him. As they did, they would say things like, "Lucky Skeleton bless me with a promotion to mid-rank succubus,"

"Lucky Skeleton bless me with a cute boy to feed on next time I go out," and "Lucky Skeleton bless me with a ten-streak of double gold."

Well, the last one was something Eric would have liked. Damn it, superstition was really something to avoid.

These succubi seriously got in the way of Eric's quest to level up his colleagues. He had to wait until Lucia came back before he could finally level up to LV6 and get that life-saving free attribute point. His [Constitution] had already reached 11 points, meeting the evolution requirement, but his [Strength] was only at 5 points. He was seriously one-sided in his development.

This time, there was no doubt it was an earth attribute experiment. The skills Eric had prepared were [Earth Resistance], [Toughness], [Tough Bone], and [Self-Heal].

Lucia once again picked Eric out from the pile of skeletons and cast her spell.

  "Deterioration."

This time, it was the skill that most countered skeletons. Using earth to deteriorate and disintegrate bones was quite effective against the skeleton species, which were constantly carrying the [Bone Deterioration] status. But with 11 points in [Constitution] and [Earth Resistance], Eric calmly withstood the deterioration.

This time, the earth attribute crystal was the size of a pigeon's egg. In an instant, Eric was enveloped by an earth-yellow flame, and his bones began to disintegrate layer by layer into soil.

At this moment, Eric felt as if he had returned to the earth, becoming a sleeping relic within it. His body kept decaying and merging with the earth. It wasn't just the disintegration of his body; it was also the disintegration of his consciousness.

"This is really dangerous," Eric thought to himself. If it had been earlier, encountering an earth attribute that countered skeletons would have been very risky.

But for Eric now, such attribute crystals no longer posed a threat. He could withstand it without even adding points to his Constitution. He was now a tank-type skeleton!

  [Acquired skill: Earth Magic LV1]

[Unlocked new evolution path] Low-Rank Earth Skeleton

[Low-Rank Earth Skeleton] A skeleton born from the earth, with bones as hard as rock and the power to manipulate soil and stone, with a level cap of LV25.

Shaking off the soil from his body, Eric ignored Lucia's disappointed gaze and continued to wander.

What a great demon—she had given him a full set of elemental skills, truly an angel investor on his path to breaking out of prison. He would definitely make her death as easy as possible in the future. Although the outcome was good, it was true that this demon had always intended to kill him.

Then, the fourth batch of colleagues also died one after another. Now only one super skeleton remained, Eric, who had survived four rounds of experiments. And then, Eric was let go.

To be honest, Eric was a bit reluctant to leave. He still hadn't acquired the wind magic of the four elemental magics and had been looking forward to it. Before he left, his finger bones were taken by a group of succubi. It was said that each succubus got one; the finger bones of a lucky skeleton had a luck bonus.

Under the supervision of Principal Lucia Pound, Eric, who had returned from Succubus Academy, was full of confidence. Now he had the confidence to deliver a dimensional strike to these foolish creatures of his kind. He quickly equipped himself with a full set of godly gear.

[Agility LV1] right leg, [Stealth LV1] left leg, [Swordsmanship LV1] right arm, [Brute Force LV1] left arm. Especially the right arm with [Swordsmanship]. That was an ultra-rare item. Among all of Pound's low-level skeletons, Eric had only encountered one with it. After acquiring the [Swordsmanship] skill, he even gained a new evolution path and class.

[Low-Rank Skeleton Swordsman] A skeleton that wields a sword and can perform sword techniques, a very dangerous skeleton with a level cap of LV20.

[Swordsman] can learn powerful sword techniques.

Now he could walk sideways among low-level skeletons. Lying low, gaining strength, and seizing the opportunity—Eric hadn't forgotten these three things.

The opportunity had already appeared. If nothing went wrong, in less than twenty days, a group would come to attack Pound. And he would have to lie low carefully in this less-than-twenty-day period, level up, and gain strength. Then he would seize the opportunity.

A week of hunting had brought Eric's level up to LV7. After all, this was Pound's territory, and now there were intelligent succubi wandering around. He didn't dare to kill too many skeletons at once and could only maintain a slow pace of two or three a day.

Today, he had targeted a level 10 max-level low-level skeleton. After all, the level cap for low-level skeletons was LV10; anything higher would be a mid-level skeleton. Eric had hunted quite a few level 10 skeletons by now.

Bone mutation into claws, grabbing the neck, earth magic quickly deteriorating the cervical vertebrae, then snapping them.

Water magic directly poured into the skull to extinguish the soul flame.

Fire magic grinds the bones into powder—a smooth and artistic set of moves. If there had been a judge here, they would have undoubtedly raised a 10-point scorecard without hesitation.

  [Ding, Killed a low-level skeleton, Experience +100]

  One step closer to LV8.

Eric activated [Stealth] and carefully looked for the next skeleton. He was lucky today and didn't spend long finding the first isolated skeleton. Maybe he could set a new hunting record tonight.

He carefully wandered in areas with fewer skeletons. Soon, Eric found another isolated skeleton. What a stroke of luck.

Eric crept over without waiting for the skeleton to sleep. He now had the confidence to kill without drawing any attention.

[Stealth] carefully approached. The bones of a few fingertips on his right hand slowly grew into sharp claws. [Brute Force] exploded, smashing into the back of the skeleton's skull. He could see the soul flame in its eye sockets tremble, and a stun status appeared on its status bar.

Before the skeleton could fall, Eric quickly moved in, his bone claws digging fiercely into the skeleton's eye sockets.

  "Burn."

The dark blue flame raged wildly in the pitch-black night, invading the skeleton's eye sockets and devouring the soul flame.

  [Ding, Killed a low-level skeleton, Experience +90]

From start to finish, there was hardly any noise. Eric carefully laid the skeleton down and was about to use earth magic to sink it into the ground. But the next moment, a petite figure dropped from the sky.

Pitch-black bat wings, goat horns, and a slender tail covered in fine scales.

  It was a succubus.

  [Name] Triss Lucia Pound Hute

  [Race] Low-Rank Demon

  [Level] LV14/LV20

  [Class] Dark Mage

[Description] An assassin mage lurking in the shadows, a low-rank demon who can wield shadowy dark forces. You wouldn't want to be targeted by her, or you'd never have a peaceful night's sleep.

  "It's you."

  The succubus spoke.

Without hesitation, Eric sprinted forward. A rib bone wriggled and grew, transforming into a sharp bone sword. Then, with his right hand, he snapped off the rib and thrust it at the succubus.

  "You actually have intelligence!"

Triss shuddered. She recognized this skeleton—it was the same one who had seen her contacting her master that night. He actually had intelligence!
