Brief Summary:

  Dave Walter dies twice. The second time he is resurrected by a God-Emperor on Arxtruria, a Dyson sphere containing the black hole Nihilim and the sun orbiting it. His unique ability, Phantomancy, distinguishes him among the millions of heroes summoned by the Dragon God-Emperor to form an army.

  Phantomancy gives Dave the power to speak with the dead and even gain a ghostly detective companion.

  Carried by a giant bat, Dave escapes the Dragon God-Emperor's lands, arriving at the gates of the Shadow Empress's city, Shandria.

  In Shandria, Dave meets two striking individuals: the cranky dragoness blacksmith, Remicra, and the lively, charming foxgirl waitress, Cedez.

  Their contrasting personas further enliven Dave's already bewildering journey as the trio initiate the magitek revolution in Shandria in order to save the city from the God-Emperor's armada.
