  The girls giggled for hours until a knock on the door quieted them. The girls settled down as Sally’s mom walked into the room.

  “Ok, girls, it’s late time to go to sleep,” Sally’s mom said.

  The girls chorused, “Yes, ma’am.”

  They all crawled into their sleeping bags. Sally’s mom turned off the light and shut the door. There was more giggling and hushed whispering for another hour. Soon the room was filled with soft snoring.

  “Goodnight, Und,” whispered Sally.

  Very quietly and far away, “Goodnight, Sally.”
