Seeing everyone stare at me I felt more than just a little flustered as my face started heating up fairly quickly. My tails even began to sh about erratically as I attempted to defend my actions to no avail. Every time I managed to get a word out, my brain shut down, and I had to start all over again. Thankfully, Lou Xia came to my defense instead and covered up for me, saying, “What my friend said is true. I am also sure that we can all agree that mistakes can happen, especially when a hyperactive kitsune is involved.”
Hearing Lou Xia defends me felt great up until the moment she not so subtly mentioned my hyperactivity. It was something that I was not currently very proud of, and it was also not my fault! I clearly stated that I did not want to drink the coffee, even though it did taste so delicious that I was now having some craving for it upon thinking about that incident this morning. However, I was still forced to drink it! Though I should not think about it that way, as Mom was right in her reasoning behind it.
To be honest, it reminded me of when my grandmother would give me the same lessons as a kid. My Mother even gave me simir ones, which made sense considering that she was my grandmother's daughter. If only I could see them-No! No more thinking about that! I need to stop before I have another breakdown, and here is not the pce for that.
Turning my thoughts back to the situation at hand, I found that May was staring at me with an expression that I was not able to fully understand. What I could make out was a modicum of dissatisfaction and unwillingness that I could not understand. Outside of this, I managed to hear the man from earlier diverting away from what Lou Xia had said in favor of asking about what had happened. “I would not understand how you feel, seeing as how I have not met many kitsune. Now, I hope that I am not being too presumptuous in asking what that rge avatar was just now?”
Lou Xia was about to respond to the man's question as one normally would, however, given what she said st time and the opportunity presented, I cut in and stated, “That was the avatar of Haruka who showed up after the construction of the building was finished.” The moment after my words left my mouth, the entire clearing went absolutely quiet, with everyone staring at me once more. Though, to be honest, they never really stopped staring at me it was just that the way they were doing so changed.
Eventually, the silence ended when the man looked at me and asked, “Was that a result of consecrating the shrine?”
It was a question that thoroughly caught me off guard. Not because I was unable to respond but because I did not expect a response like that. I mean, I do not know what response I was expecting, but it definitely was not that one or any other sort of response pertaining to religion. I was also confused by what he was talking about as I did not know anything about consecration as it was not something that happened that often on earth anymore.
There is also the possibility that I am wrong about that, as I can not remember what that word means at the moment. On the other hand, this man seemed to know what consecration was and was avaible to ask questions. So I settled my confusion by asking, “What do you mean by consecrating the shrine?”
It was at this point that I finally felt like a walking confusion or shock generator, given how many times I have been stared at in confusion. I should probably just ignore it at this point, given how often it happens. In fact, I decided to put that into practice right now and focused on the man who was speaking instead of looking around at everyone else.
The man in question paused for about half a second before answering me, saying, “You know, all the rights or rituals used to bless a shrine or whatever.”
This little expnation was enough for me to roughly understand what he was talking about and come up with a few ideas. It might not be what consecration means, as I had that now familiar feeling that it was a wrong description, but it was definitely something that I could do with ease. At least, that was when talking about Elinaria. I had no clue what to do for Grandma without shedding someone else's blood. Regardless, I have all the things in my inventory needed for Elinaria’s given her domains of discovery and progression. As for her third domain, I was a kitsune performing the ‘ritual’ so that condition was fulfilled without any extra effort.
With all that figured out and a pn now forming in my head, I made sure to give a warning to everyone before heading into the shrine by saying, “Oh… Give me a minute.” With a ‘sufficient’ warning now given, I ran into the shrine at full speed, leaving everyone outside stunned for a brief moment.
It was about 200 milliseconds ter before May reacted and charged into the shrine behind me, followed by Lou Xia 100 milliseconds after that, shouting, “Wait!” Sadly both of them were too te as it only took me about 150 milliseconds to make it to the shrine and use my inventory to pce down the three things I needed from my inventory. These three objects were a stone axe, an iron chisel for stone working, and a few parts for one of the machines I had not built yet but was pnning to. They were somewhat ‘specifically’ chosen to represent both progress through technological stages and the discovery of new technology. All that was left now was to give a small little prayer for blessing the shrine.
That was when May finally managed to reach me in an attempt to stop me, however, this was also the moment that a pilr of rushing light descended from the sky right next to the shrine table itself. This caused May to pause for a moment as the pilr of light faded away, revealing a slightly see-through version of Grandma Haruka standing there with a slightly murderous look in her eyes.
