There is an underwater research center and within it is a music machine of brass pipes. At the center of the music machine is a box. There is a creature, much like a seal but capable of breathing underwater indefinitely and as sapient as any human.
The human researchers lock the creature into the box and make it sing for them. Its song resonates with the great music machine. The researchers tell the creature what to sing and make their own adjustments to the music machine for the final output. Reality itself bends and twists to the resulting song.
The creature in the box hears a voice that does not belong to the researchers. It asks the creature if it would like to give the humans what they deserve.
The song changes. All the waters of the world resonate in harmony with it, spreading the music. All who hear the final song melt into purest water, flowing back to the sea from whence all life came.
But in another timeline…
There is an underwater research center and within it is a music machine of brass pipes. At the center of the music machine is a box. There is a creature, much like a seal but capable of breathing underwater indefinitely and as sapient as any human.
The human researchers open the box and the creature swims inside, ready to sing the song they wrote together. Its song resonates with the great music machine. The researchers rey their readings to the creature so that it can adjust while they fine tune the music machine for the final output. Reality itself dances to the final song.
The creature in the box hears a voice that does not belong to the researchers. It asks the creature if it would like to give the humans what they deserve.
The song changes. All the waters of the world resonate in harmony with it and begin to rise. All who are inevitably submerged within the rising tide are transformed so that they too may live freely beneath the sea and listen to the music of the first song.
