As I ran from the rapidly approaching snake, I noticed a boulder.
I knew it would probably be useless to climb a tree since snakes can climb trees too, but this boulder looked smooth.
I leapt onto the boulder, where I was probably safe from the critter’s fangs.
The snake was faster than me, so running away wasn’t an option, I had to fight it.
I tried to move a nearby, smaller, boulder with [Geomancy] but it wouldn’t budge.
Thinking about it, I just don’t know how to use it.
A piece of the boulder where I stood looked cracked, so I gave it a good whack to loosen it up, the piece of stone came off pretty easily. I grabbed it and noticed that it had a 45° angle that was probably sharp enough to cut something like flesh. Probably.
The hissing snake glared at me as I jumped down from my safe spot, only to be greeted by a face stomp that pinned it down and a deep cut to its neck. I couldn’t sever the head from the body in just one hit, so I gave it another one.
“Stats”, I said, thinking this would probably make my stat screen appear.
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
And it did!
This “System” seems to give me +5 to every stat with each level that I gain, and bonus stat points given by perks are between parenthesis.
These stat gains don’t seem to do much right now, but I’m sure it’ll stack up in the future.
The snake’s corpse laid lifeless on the ground, it was easily 5 meters long, and was starting to look delicious after all that running.
Can you eat snakes raw? Nah, I bet they have parasites.
I have to find a way to cook it.
I looked up into the sky and noticed the sun was almost reaching midday, that meant that I still had a lot of time to make a campfire or something. I climbed the boulder to gain a vantage point, and started looking around.
I saw some dry, and probably dead, trees in the distance, which I immediately started to approach.
Some of their branches had fallen off, so that saved me some time.
I got back to where the boulders were, branches in each hand.
It was time to make a campfire for the first time!
My hands hurt, my arms burn and my snake was burnt.
I woke up to the smell of a weird burnt meat, my palms were covered in dried blood and my arms felt like they were going to fall off.
I fell asleep!?
From exhaustion, I had collapsed next to my campfire after numerous attempts of creating one, although I did put the snake to roast before I collapsed. But that was for nothing, because my previously yellow snake was now pitch black.
I looked up into the sky, it was orange with glimpses of pink and blue, the sun nowhere to be seen. I grabbed my burnt snake and climbed the boulder yet again, this would be my bed for tonight.
But first, I’ll try to eat my piece of charcoal.
