Chapter 19: A New Look 3

"Special tasks?" The receptionist was momentarily stunned.

Kenley was well aware that the Adventurer's Guild periodically released special tasks, with different tasks being assigned based on the player's current rank. These tasks might seem no different from regular ones on the surface, but they often came with a few special conditions:

Random drops of high or low-level treasures.Triggering hidden storylines.Unlocking special dungeons.

This was one of the most amazing aspects Aude continent of Aude. According to official sources, Aude was a living world. Changes occurred in the game every month—the nations changed, people changed, and storylines evolved. Many hidden quests were unique, something no previous MMORPG dared to achieve.

Moreover, the world would update its main storyline based on the direction the current plot was taking. Each player's storyline could differ, but they would generally converge in certain cities, such as the Marlen Imperial City in the Cain Empire.

In addition, the developers preserved all the main storylines from past expansions, allowing both old and new players to experience them through saved game files. This meant the game was both an MMORPG and a single-player game, allowing players to enjoy it however they liked. This feature was widely appreciated by players, which is why the game attracted so many fans of both scenic exploration and narrative-driven content.

Kenley then added,"You know, the kind of task... you get it... heh heh."

System:"[Genius Negotiator] Triggered. Special task channel opened."

"Oh!" The receptionist's eyes lit up as if he understood, but before speaking, he covertly glanced at Tia. Finally, he leaned closer to Kenley and whispered,"Don't tell anyone I told you, but there's a task at the blacksmith's shop, Smith. You can go try it."

"Thanks!" Kenley immediately smiled and slipped a 10-silver coin tip into the receptionist's hand. The receptionist, seeing this, pretended to cough a few times and casually tucked the tip into his sleeve.

After receiving the tip, the receptionist quickly crouched down, found a rolled-up task document in the drawer beneath the desk, and handed it to Kenley.

Kenley, of course, didn't hesitate. He took the document and added it to his bag.

  "Let's go."

Kenley then led Tia out of the guild, disappearing from view amidst the distant howls of wild wolves.

"Master, is this your first time at the Adventurer's Guild?" Tia asked, curious, as she followed Kenley.

This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Kenley seemed incredibly familiar with the city, almost like a long-time resident. He knew the routes, the people, the locations, and the functions of various places—he seemed to know everything. Could a simple farmer really have such experience? Tia couldn't believe it. However, Kenley's age couldn't deceive her, as she had clearly seen that Kenley had written"18 years old" when signing the adventurer contract earlier.

"Yeah, what's wrong?" Kenley replied casually, walking with an air of ease, as if nothing in the world could bother him. His carefree attitude made Tia feel a surge of envy. She was incredibly curious about this mysterious master of hers, wondering what kind of identity and experiences he had in the past. He seemed like a book filled with secrets, one that could never be understood but was impossible to stop reading.

"Nothing..." In the end, Tia couldn't bring herself to ask. As a servant, she had neither the qualifications nor the right to question her master's every action. She only needed to obey his will.

Kenley, of course, could sense Tia's curiosity and doubt about his identity. He wasn't planning to explain himself. This was one of the advantages of being a player in this world. Perhaps one day, he would be unable to resist explaining, but certainly not now. At the moment, he was focused on planning a new adventure—a journey that would help him grow and level up. He was determined to take Tia along as they explored this world.

Besides, he hadn't lied. This was indeed his first time visiting the Adventurer's Guild in this world since his reincarnation. But compared to ordinary people, he understood more about the world's mechanics and rules.

If he had a goal, it would be to reach the 180th floor of the Golden Forbidden Hall: Heart of the World. According to official announcements, there was a god there, along with the strongest boss in the world. As a professional player, what could be more fulfilling than taking on a god-level boss? Moreover, before his reincarnation to Aude, the game hadn't even reached the 180th floor yet.

What intrigued Kenley was that, even though the 180th floor hadn't been completed in the game, he had reincarnated into this world. Did that mean a boss was already waiting for him on that floor? What would that mean for him?

Suddenly, Kenley asked, "Tia, do you have any dreams you want to achieve in life?"

"Dreams?" Tia was slightly stunned. It was the first time her master had asked her about dreams. She hesitated for a moment, wondering if he was testing her loyalty. Then she responded, "My master's dream is also my dream. I don't have any dreams of my own."

At these words, Kenley's cheerful steps immediately halted, and he was one step ahead of Tia, just enough for her not to see his expression.

After a moment, Tia heard her master speak in a tone she had never heard before, saying, "A person can live without dreams, but they cannot live without faith. Tia, what is your faith?"

"My faith?" Tia was once again stunned.

"Then what is your faith, Master?" she couldn't help but ask.

"My faith? To defeat the gods!" Kenley suddenly turned around, his voice full of vigor. It was as though there were no obstacles in his words, and he answered without hesitation.

"Defeat the gods?" Tia looked at her master in disbelief. If a street thug had said such a thing, Tia would surely think of him as a madman or a fool.

But her master was different. He was too mysterious and confident. When he said those words, it sounded as though it was only natural. The mysterious servant contract, his profound knowledge of Tyler's past, and how he seemed so familiar with the Adventurer's Guild even though it was his first time—it all added layers to the enigmatic aura that surrounded Kenley.

Perhaps, as he said, he really could defeat the gods. But then, Tia couldn't help but smile inwardly. What was she thinking? If gods were that easy to defeat, there wouldn't be so many heroes buried in foreign lands.
