3.18 the dreadrock mountains

Approaching the monumental rocks was a challenge j and of itself, made only worse by the fact that the air grew damp and cold once they set their feet on the blackened ground.

"They say, when people gave the name dreadrock to these pillars, it was long before the Necrotorum and the Academy were build, when dragons freely roamed these lands and the Miasma began to rear its ugly head."

Nemo said, and recounted the ancient tale.

"Back then, the first Heros had been chosen to set an end to the darkness bubbling under the worlds surface, and they made their habitat right next to these very mountains."

  Jeolas smiled as he guessed.

"I assume they had settled in Furchenstein? Let's just say that Furchenstein aswell as Mittellande are on our side again, or at least enough for us to have allies in both places. Where have you heard this story?"

He asked, Nemo actually relaxing at these news.

"I have been raised by a family pretty insistent on teaching the old ways, which was a hassle until I became the Hero of the void. Then, they sent me out to meet the others and kill anyone in our way. Tell me, how does it happen that a part of the darkness itself awakens as a Hero?"

He asked, the warlock sighing as he began his tale.

"You see, I initially came from a world far away from this one, untouched by the influence of meddling gods and Primordials. I was given power I had never thought possible for a single person to wield. After several weird situations, I managed to talk to the system itself as it warned me of the divines darkness, leading me to abandon the system and follow a false prophet, which I had to slaughter immediately. There is no sense in letting people live that deceive you against your own good."

  He announced, smiling.

"Then, I died. I died a horrible death as the darkness took me back, fighting hard to rewcb new strength. I reconnected with the system, and began spreading its word in that state, an easy task until I felt the minds of my own people wash through the darkness itself, their despair calling to me and forcing my soul to form a body of Miasma."

He explained, gently regulating the gravitation around him.

"Damn, finally. I hoped this would exist..." he exclaimed, a happy melody emenating from his frills at that moment, and everyone else instinctively joining in. Now in a much better mood, and the song driving away any fear that began to settle in their hearts, the Larv had enough resolve to tread forward, though a feeling of wrongness came upon them the moment they went further. Not stopping the brave warriors ascend.

"Today, we will need all the courage we can gather. Our strongest men might feel weak by the end, and our smartest minds will probably go weary. These mountains are not the gods territory, as chaos reigns supreme. Do not run away from the group, we need everyone to make it through."

He announced, having immediately put the token in intelligence as he decided it was time to do his best, once again.

"Be ready to fight any undead, monster and undead monster that crosses our path."

And thus, a dangerous track through the mountains began, and at some point they had to dismount from the Scorpions as the Larv couldn't get a proper grip on the slippery ground with the ocean of chitin beneath them.

They tried to keep in between the mountains, passing through the lowest point wherever possible. They fought many minor abominations, creatures that first years at both schools would loose without much trouble. Only after hours of walking did they finally meet an opponent worth their attention. It jumped from the shadows at him, his guards and golems reacting late and allowing Jeolas new shield to be destroyed as the chimera chose him as his next meal. Quickly, a circle formed, and although everyone tried to seperate the two, Jeolas itched for a proper fight by now and made sure to coordinate the circle to look like an arena.
