Shadow of the Hunt is a what-if sort of novel. What if a group of kids from a town discovered a “wolf” boy living on the outskirts of their town after running into him during a snowstorm while he attempted to steal some meat and produce at their town market? Did that wolf just talk? Never mind that— instead of pushing him away or attempting to try and hunt him down, these kids end up trying to find out why he seems so human despite not being able to speak full English. Underneath all that fur and growls, he really is a sweetheart that the group tries to befriend. Especially once the “wolf” boy turns out to be a young teenage boy. Maybe befriending him will help both him and them learn more about themselves along the way.
