Infiltration of the Spy (1)

  May 14, 2030

'Beep!' The whistle blew. It was the day after I moved from the Baekryong unit of the 11th Division to the front unit post. We received a report of a spy who infiltrated the North Korean border. We were nervous. This was an armed confidence incident that happened in the Yangyang area of Gangwon Province. There could be no mistake.

"Wow, I'm finally on top." Gamamusa muttered to himself. He openly broke through the DMZ in front of the outposts in Gangwon Province. He amazingly broke through where the landmines were laid, wore a bullet-proof vest and gloves, and quickly broke through the area even as the outposts on the watchtower fired bullets. He had already put a division on high alert around Gangwon Province. It was a complete collapse. Suddenly, he began to ride down the Baekdudaegan in Gangwon Province. Then, he came down to a low-lying front post attached to the mountain. Without entering the main gate, he shot a cctv to block his view, climbed up the barbed wire, and removed it.

Gamamusa who entered the outpost approached the food waste area behind the kitchen and opened the back door of the kitchen. The inside of the kitchen was still. The samurai went in as it was, fired an anesthetic bullet at the cook, knocked him out, and looked around the kitchen. There was already a commotion inside the outpost over Gamamusa's work, and most of the personnel were going out and looking. There was no better environment for Gamamusa to play an active role. He watched closely toward the hallway as he climbed the wall invisible from the corridor side.

I felt like I might faint. My friends around me looked at me and shook my shoulder to see if they were worried. "Hey, Baek! Wake up! Are you trying to be taken to the barracks?" I was so busy with my head today. My head is pounding just thinking about yesterday, and I didn't know I'd come all the way here. I looked ahead. Kim Dae-hyun. He was a senior I knew in society. I didn't expect to meet you as a senior here, too..

We were in a military truck, picking up our helmets and guns, and heading to an area where armed guards were stationed. The guns were usually loaded with horror bullets, but there was also a box full of live bullets on the floor. In fact, it would be better not to use live ammunition, but it was also quite necessary now.

When the military truck arrived at the scene, we immediately got off and examined the situation. Only trees and bushes covered the area, and there was not a single thing visible except for a small watchtower. Military officials were interrogating personnel from the watchtower in that situation. They were giving details of where they were doing and how they lost sight of the personnel who appeared to be spies. There were footprints on the floor, but most of them were washed away in a rain shower. The scene was very difficult for me.

A few hours later, the incident briefly entered a phase of closure. The men on the outpost got back on the board, and now they had to go back to the outpost. My hands were shaking, so I couldn't even look at my seniors and my eyes dropped. A senior officer pinned me not to sleep. I sat still without facing Kim Dae-hyun's eyes.

A few hours later, the military truck drove us back to the post. We went straight into the home team, but we didn't hear the cook call. We finally couldn't stand it and went to the kitchen after holding the boat we had been given for hours. There was no one in the kitchen, and eventually we decided to search the base. There was no cooker anywhere inside the base. We needed something to eat. But more than that, I wondered where and what the cooker was doing.

  ...

Gamamusa kept a close eye on the outpost with his eyes open. The cook was lying on a fur cloth on the floor, and the mud floor dampened by rain was all muddy. Gamamusa thought. Perhaps if you hover around this for several days, the outpost will not look for me, believing that I have gone south.
