“Time won’t wait for us” Me and Akira left the dorms with the rest of the group. The school loomed over us, like a storm in the distance. It felt grand and mysterious.
“I wonder if they’ll give us little magic wands” Ssher snickered as Chris elbowed her
“This isn’t a fairytale-“
I dug into my pocket to grab the piece of paper with all my csses on it. I held it up and looked at the first css
“Magical history..” Akira perked up.
“Oh hey, we have the same css, that’s a relief-“ I giggled
“Don’t worry I’ll help you, but you need to write your own essays.”
“What-?! You wouldn’t do that to me would you?!” Chris ughed
“She definitely would”
Our spirits were high as we walked through the rge wooden doors. Inside, the walls were a dark oak, accented with bits of gold and silver lining the hallways, the floor was a white marble with a long red and golden carpet down the middle. At the front was a giant main area lined with bookshelves filled to the brim with magical literature.
“Wow…almost reminds me of home” I said, getting a closer look at some of the bookshelves.
“It’s certainly antique, and yet it also looks brand new at the same time” Ivy replied.
All of us wandered around, gawking at anything and everything before we decided we should split off to get to csses.
“Uh, hey Mezu, do you think this css will go over stuff you’ve told me?”
“I’d assume so, my mother was always weirdly fascinated with war”
We continued walking down the hall until writing on a wall caught our attention
“History hallway, it must be down here then!”
We finally found the room, inside it had marble desks that looked like they fit two people at once, at the front there was a rge whiteboard that looked more like a giant screen, there were books piled on tables in the back of the room and the css seemed to have little pnts everywhere.
Me and Akira found our seats and sat down. The bell rang again and a few moments ter a woman walked inside, She was on the shorter side, with long wavy olive green hair. She wore a green and brown dress with white stockings.
"Hello everyone, I hope you all are finding your cssrooms okay, my name is Electra, I'm your magical history teacher, now how about we start with a review, hm...you" She said pointing at me
"Mezu correct? They teach you a lot about historical events in the circle of gods correct?"
"Yes, they do"
"Well then, could you refresh us on the war during the year nineteen ninety?"
"Right..it was the great war between humans and non humans, I believe it sted five years" She smiled
"Correct, and what exactly sparked it?"
"It was the humans fear of magic, it was foreign to them and because of that they attacked."
"Correct again! one more thing, who won?"
"Nobody did, it was a tie, however a treaty was made between the magical and human governments to keep the two groups away from one another, hence why this town was created."
"seems like they teach you well over there miss Mezu"
"I guess so" Akira looked over at me and smiled, giving me a small but noticeable thumbs up.
“Now, as she’s stated, the war happened due to conflicts between the humans and non humans, as we know, magic comes from the soul, not the body, many people here in Alynthi are what we call human elementals, humans who were born with magic that was only unlocked ter in life. The reason why humans can’t know about this is because the human mind simply cannot comprehend the extent to which magic exists, it’s a greater power than they are used to. Many elementals had to go through extreme physical or mental turmoil to get these powers, and to them, those were moments that many humans aren’t ready to see or face.”
(Can’t face…yeah, mother told me that once, magic is by definition impossible, and humans believe in only the possible. Well, most of them.) I thought, writing down small parts of what she was saying.
“Now for those fortunate enough to be born into magic, like demons, fey, elves, they all have magic the moment they are born, so that mental turmoil never happens. That is why some believe human elementals can do better things than some immortal beings, however this is just a theory” The woman looks at her watch and smiles
“I’m afraid that’s all the time we have, I expect great things from all of you, have a good day”
The bell rang and everyone funneled out the door, Akira grabbed his bag and looked at me.
“Your mom always talked about that stuff huh?”
“Non stop, it was because I was always interacting with them, she didn’t like that apparently, she didn’t like most things” he sighed and walked out the door, with me trailing behind.
“The good thing is that she’s not here now” he said, looking down at his paper of csses.
“True..hm, I guess I have studies of human emotions next..”
“Really? Why are you taking that one?”
“I need it to be able to help decide fates and punishments in the celestial realm, they’ve been happening more often”
“Alright, well I’ll see you soon!” Akira shouted, running the other direction.
I continued walking until I got to my next css, Ivy was there too.
“Hey Mezu! You taking human emotion studies too?”
“Yup, looks like we have it together”
“Hehe awesome! Cmon let’s go”
She grabbed my arm and pulled me through the door.
