- (Mech Pov) -
...You know, normally when you wake up beneath a strange ceiling the first thing someone would normally do is panic, look around in search for any kind of telltale sign to know where you are.
I also would love to do that, but I can't.
Why, you ask? Because a tall purple figure is sleeping right above me, and even with all my strength, I'm unable to even make it move an inch.
All I can do at the moment is stay still with my eyes closed and listen, as some drops of what I can only guess as being water falls on the ground.
...I wonder how things are going back on the ship...
...I hope no one found my secret stash of explosives in case of invasions, or my autonomous 'credit farm' I made in secret...
...Now that I think about it, if I ever find an antenna maybe I could connect with the Gactic Emporium to buy something, if I'm even able to find a working one that is.
*Nudge*
'Ah! It seems my savior has finally woken up.' I open my eyes and am instantly met with my image being reflected by two pearly, pretty white orbs focusing on me. 'Huh... I never thought of it before but, man, the scientists did wonders with me.'
In the same way, I'm accessing my savior it is doing the same to me, looking at me from head to tail, even without a mouth (wait, what?) I can feel how it is somehow surprising to see me 'waking up' as soon as it did.
I once again try to push it off me and it complies, rolling to my side finally letting me get up and stretch my bones. 'Even if they're not normal ones I still like the feeling I get whenever they pop.'
Without a giant crushing me I can finally look around the pce I'm in, and instantly my eyes lock on my stuff, without even noticing that strangely enough this pce doesn't have a door I go towards my equipment and start putting it back on.
'Man, this vest isn't made for combat, it's full of scratch marks, also, where is my wasp?' I start looking around and aside from my pack and some fruits lying around I'm unable to see the small drone that was given to me. 'Great, they'll make me pay for it if I don't find it before the mission is over.'
...
I once again look at my, well, I can't keep calling it Saviour every time right? So, looking at it, I finally ask it a simple question.
"Do you have a name?" I ask, and almost instantly my new friend jumps back in fear, its eyes so wide that I'm able to see my whole body on them. "Wow calm down buddy!!" I slowly start walking near my friend until I'm near enough to witness something STRANGE, well, not stranger than a slugcat without a mouth but still strange you know?
Somehow it seems that my friend can understand Common Language because its body nguage goes back to being an almost completely calm stance.
"...Can you understand me?" I ask to which I get a nod, good, this will help a lot. "Okay, so, before you brought me here, did you see a yellow object that was on my back?" This time it freezes, as if not understanding what I said, so I try once again, this time in a simpler way.
"Let's try this once again, you remember a small...orb that was here?" I say pointing at my back, this time I get a nod. "Can you please help get it back?" Another nod, this time a little slower, as if still struggling to understand everything but somehow understanding a part of it.
[A/N: Damn, I'm having a creative blockade at the moment.]
"Great! Truly thank you! You have no idea how important this is for me!" I excim while quite literally tackling my new friend into a hug, which wasn't the best idea as soon after I got thrown into the ground.
*Bam!*
"Ugh! —Got it, no hugs for you." I say while trying to hold on to my slipping consciousness.
(Sometime ter)
As soon as I woke up from my small nap, me and my new friend got to work, it seems that after a specific time, the shelter opened an exit following a special schedule, so I didn't have to wait a lot after waking up.
...
'Wow, without being followed by a lizard I can finally pay attention to this pnet.' I follow my new friend while paying attention to the world around us, now that I don't have to worry about getting eaten I can finally see how beautiful and full of life it is.
Nearby some strange insects with what appears like tentacles fly around pying, sometimes, colonies of small bck insects fly around, in groups ranging from 20 to 50 before hiding inside a small patch of white vegetation.
"Hey, are we getting near?" I ask while looking at my friend, who stops looking around for a while before nodding.
I kinda wish I had some music with me right now, as, at least I have a motion radar that makes sure I never get surprised by any stupid lizard ever again.
"...Following total atomic annihition
It may fall to you to save the great nation
That's why Vault-Tec have made extra preparation
And are proud to present you a special education
Regarding aptitude
You are an absolutely unique amalgamation of attributes
Now it's time to find out in which you excel
What makes you S-P-E-C-I-A-L?"
I start singing a small song while following my friend, who looks back at me before focusing on her 'mission' of helping me retrieve the WASP.
"You're special
You're special
You're special
Oh, so special
S-P-E-C-I-A-L
Spells out that you're quite swell!"
I bob my head while singing, always paying attention to my radar to make sure nothing gets too near for my comfort, my friend copies my action, but I doubt she can even understand most of the song anyway, Common may be easy enough to be comprehended by anything that has a working brain, but understanding the meaning behind the words is different.
While following my friend I get some small scraps I can find in the ground, from stones, small shards of what appears to be gss, and a piece of sharpened rebar that could very well be used to protect myself.
I keep singing a little more, sometimes stopping to catalog certain wildlife like an insect I named Noodlefly, why noodlefly? Because whenever they stay still their bodies look like a soggy noodles.
They're fascinating to watch, as long as you stay away from them, normally, the adults fly with their offspring nearby showcasing quite the protection against anything that may be a danger to them, the green lizard that got a new hole opened is a good example of their care for their young.
I kept walking until I ended up stumbling into my friend, who had stopped without any prior warning.
"What happened? Why did you stop?" I ask while gncing from up her shoulder trying to see what made us stop on our way.
My mouthless friend keeps her eyes on the front but points at something in front of us.
"There's danger ahead?" I get a nod. "Strange, my radar hasn't noticed anything near us."
My friend once again points at our front, towards a patch of tall grass.
"There's something there?" I whisper to my friend who flinches at my sudden proximity to her before she puts her hand on my head and forcefully makes me look in a certain direction.
And it's there that I see it, completely invisible aside from its eyes and mouth lying in the grass waiting for something or someone to get near it, another lizard.
"Great, now they come in invisible too?" I whisper to myself ready to go in another direction, just to stop immediately as my friend quite literally dashes towards the lizard pulling a needle from her tail.
The lizard, seeing her get near, opens its mouth and shoots its tongue in her direction almost striking her.
(A/N: I hate how this chapter is being made, I've spent a whole week trying to complete it and it's still at a thousand words, I'm not even sure on how to write this combat scene so just, hang on with whatever trash I write.)
My purple friend rolls to her side while throwing one of her spears at the tongue, making the lizard writhe in pain while trying to pull it back into its mouth.
Purple doesn't stop there, and once again dashes at him throwing another spear (or should I call them needles? Spikes? Whatever) into the lizard's right front leg, making it incapable of escaping.
The lizard uses its tail in a tentative to hit her but she slides below it, once again striking the lizard, this time in its stomach making it scream and thrash around in unholy pain, the needle that was stuck in its paw is forcefully removed when the lizard uses it to strike my friend, sending her sliding across the ground.
Feeling a little out of pce I do what I do best, buff my friend with incredible compliments.
"Go purple! You can do it!" I scream while waving the spear I had found earlier.
The lizard hearing my shouts stops, before looking at me and, against all logic, shoots his tongue at me, the slugcat that aside from being the most distant is also the one with a spear pointed right at him.
Question: what happens when a soft object like, let's say, flesh strikes a sharpened piece of rebar?
"Aagghh!!" If your answer was; suffering the equivalent of having a nail getting stuck in your tongue, congratutions, you got an A+
"Welp, that's what I call a 'Spiky situation' right fel?" The answer to my joke is a stone being thrown right into my head by the lizard's tail.
*Thud* With a dull thud I fall on the ground, thankfully my hat protected me from the pain but still, why does everyone in here always aim at my head?
Sitting back once again, I watch the st moments of the lizard's life as my purple friend jumps on its back and strikes it with another needle aimed at its neck.
The lizard struggles once more in an attempt to survive but the needle in its neck doesn't budge no matter how strong it tries.
The lizard falls to the ground, its dark eyes once full of light, now dull and dark as coal.
"Okay then, now that you're finished with him let's keep going okay?" I say while getting up from my sitting spot.
*Stab*
Just to stop immediately as I see my friend stabbing the lizard's corpse with another needle.
"Hey, don't you think that's a little excessive?" I ask my friend who's on his way to stab the dead lizard with one more of her needles.
*Stab*
Purple stabs another needle in the corpse's tail, and I'm surprised by what happens so after.
As if being a cup of soda the lizard's corpse starts shriveling, first, its white scales start falling, and soon after the lizard's meat starts shriveling too.
While this happens my purple friend sits near the corpse, patting its now round belly with what I can only describe as the same bliss someone gets after having the best meal in your whole life.
"...I see, so you eat using these huh?" I ask while looking at the bundle of skin and bones that was once upon a time, a healthy white lizard.
All the answer I get is a thumbs-up from the small purple ball, seems like this lizard was the equivalent of a full course meal to her if she can't even get up.
Well, it doesn't look like we're going anywhere until she digests this meal, might as well see if I can do something with whatever I have in my pack.
I find a spot near my friend to sit on and start putting any material I had found earlier on the ground.
'Aside from stones and the piece of rebar that's still stuck in the lizard's tongue I don't have enough materials to make anything useful.' I take the remaining arrows I have in my pack and throw them away, as much as I want to, at the moment they're nothing more than a waste of space, and could very well end up damaging something important in here.
'What can a slugcat do with a bunch of rocks, a piece of sharpened rebar, and a dream?' I ask myself in silence while looking at the purple ball at my side, did she take a nap?
I poke her belly and sure enough, she's asleep, out cold, in the middle of an open area, that could very well be full of dangerous predators... Either she's not very bright, or she trusts that I will wake her up if I notice something wrong.
Or maybe, she's just dumb.
Anyway back to the main deal, my eyes once again y on the dead lizard, especially its long tongue, as long as whatever my friend sucked from the poor bastard doesn't affect its mouth too badly I can use it.
I get near its mouth and, against all disgust in my brain, shove my arms inside its now dry mouth and pull its tongue from it, good news, it's not sticky nor gooey.
Bad news, a dry tongue is still disgusting.
"Ugh!" I pull the tongue to its utmost limits, and, using the sharp piece of rebar cut it gets a big piece of material estic enough to be used on my stupid pn.
I know that a slingshot isn't the first weapon someone may have in mind but, in desperate times you need to use whatever you can.
Back in my sitting spot, I'm met with two white orbs focusing on me.
Taking the piece of rebar I activate the Omni-tool and cut it into a bundle of pieces, using the heat from the small cutter in my hand I weld them in a Y-shape, taking the estic tongue I start measuring it before cutting it and tying it into my new weapon.
(Man, I'm pulling shit so far up my ass I'm surprised someone can even read this. But if you are, thank you.)
"Behold!! The one and only!!...Common slingshot." I say while holding the badly made slingshot in front of my friend, who, to all of her normal capable neurons is looking at me as if I am some type of otherworldly being.
...Look, I know you are kinda primitive, but there's no reason to look at me as if I just grew a second head, okay dy?
...
After some time trying the slingshot to make sure it wouldn't break in the middle of something important, me and my great pal Purple continue on our way towards the st pce she saw my drone, I truly hoped it hadn't been damaged by some native fauna, well, more than it did yesterday anyway, without it making communication with the ship will be near impossible without a giant computer capable of even withstanding sending a FTL signal towards it.
(...Don't worry if you didn't understand any of what I just wrote, I also don't understand, I just want to finish this goddamn chapter already!! —I hope chapter four will be easier to make, anyway, back to the chapter okay?)
Walking across this pce I'm in currently is strange, sometimes you can see ruins of some kind of missing civilization, and by the fact that sometimes I can see some spray paintings, it seems that they haven't been gone for a long time.
*Ping*
The radar in my goggles picks up movement from some of the insects I decided to call Batflies flying around, I ignore them for now, they're harmless always hiding whenever you get near them.
My friend starts climbing an iron pole and I follow along, making sure to not look up of course, don't wanna be seen as a pervert...
...Are they even developed enough to have such things?
Anyway, back to the business, I keep following Purple, sometimes stumbling because of either vines or small rocks along the way.
"We@@..." A strange synthetic voice calls my attention, and I look in its direction in curiosity.
A little below us is a vending machine, not big enough that I would be forced to use a chair, but big enough that I would need to use a stick to press some of the upper buttons.
*Growl* Seems that my stomach is a little hungry huh?
"Hey!" I call my friend, who stops and looks at me in curiosity. "Can you help me here?" I ask while climbing down towards the vending machine.
"Wow, this is incredible this old piece of metal works using sor energy!" I excim while taking my Omni-tool, normally, if it was one made by the GC it would have anti-tampering systems, I don't doubt that this one also has one such system, but in comparison to the ones back in the many colonies, this one should be easier to break apart.
Slowly I start getting the omni-tool near the metal of the vending machine, while my friend keeps looking at me with what looks like a mischievous smile, sadly she doesn't have a mouth so this is only a guess.
*Bzzt!*
As soon as the omni-tool touches the machine I get thrown flying thanks to the electric shock.
"Ugh! Got it, electric field huh? Not bad at all" I congratute whoever made such a system while getting up, these types are always the most annoying to counter, if I had a set of rubber gloves I could simply cut it open but as, I don't have any, so let's go with the second best thing.
*Shuffle*
I pull a small pebble from my pack along with one intact energy cell, doing some of my unique witchcraft (tying a small amount of melted rebar in the pebble and charging it with the energy cell.) I create what could be very well called an electric grenade, I guess. I'm not exactly sure what to call a stone with enough electricity to fry a combat droid, Electro Magnetic Pebble?
I don't even have to aim, I just shoot it with the slingshot and sit back.
*Bang!*
With an intense sound the machine stops, I'm pretty sure I just wasted a useful battery, but food is more important anyway.
I once again start cutting the machine with my tool and am left beaming when I don't get shocked while carving a hole big enough for me to slide through.
*Thud*
With a dull thud the hole I opened in the machine was done and without even a second thought I jumped inside.
Inside I'm met with both heaven and hell, I find some snack boxes, big enough to fill my belly, along with some soda and juice.
At the top of the machine I'm met with rubber "balloons", each one with a 16 engraved at the box, I don't care nor want to find if it is 16 units or 16 inches so I get out with any food and drink good enough to consume.
Going out of the machine I'm met with two giant pearls waiting for me, a spear in her left hand and a batfly in her right hand.
"Sorry, just had to get something, we can go now." I say while climbing back to the we were before I went looting.
Purple stabs the batfly in one of her needles before taking the lead.
...
We keep walking for a while, sometimes stopping to rest, others to eat or drink some water, I really like this strange blue fruit that grows around, it really beats having to eat insects, I don't think I could ever do something as disgusting as eating an insect.
When we finally get near the st pce the wasp was seen the sun is finally starting to set, which, if you ask me, only means one thing, this world is pnning something problematic against me.
And it seems I'm spot-on when I'm finally able to see the small yellow and bck drone fshing its scanner and making loud noises in an attempt to scare a bunch of strange masked beings with spears circling it.
Without even thinking I draw a stone and aim, while Purple, seemingly understanding what I'm about to do pulls two needles from her back.
"Hey, fuckface!!!!" I shout with everything I have and soon enough the strange wide-eyed monkeys look at me. "Leave my drone alone!!" with that, I release the slingshot and the jagged stone is sent flying right into one of theirs.
"Hey buddy" I say looking at my friend who looks at me. "Seems like we're gonna be having quite the fight huh?" I ask while seeing as the group of once six, now five, monkeys look at us with deep hatred in their eyes.
If we survive this, I promise, I'm finding a fme thrower one way or another.
The pce stays still for a second, until one of the monkeys throws a spear at me.
And from then on, hell broke loose.
(Yup, that's it for this week, I'm now going to be rewatching and rereading the whole rain world wiki, I already knew that writing is hard, but writing when you're bad at it is almost impossible. Anyways, good night, have a good one. )
(PS: If there's any grammatical mistake tell me please.)
