Metamorphosis of Perspective

The White Latex Beasts work as a Hive mind. It is unknown as to why, but the drones have no eyes and some don't even have mouths - Excerpt from "Is This Our Fate?" By James Colin.

My heart pounded as I shoved objects in front of the door. The stinging agony from the gunshot in my shoulder made me flinch.I looked down at the suitcase staring at me from the floor without a second thought, I entered the password into the suitcase. I unsealed it and took out the tiny syringe that was full of thick white goo. I pushed it into my arm without thinking twice. My head began to spin from the loss of blood. I let go of the depleted syringe. It shattered across the floor, but when I fell backwards into a lying posture, all I could see was the whirling ceiling. My arm went numb, and I felt my eyes begin to close as I passed out.

I woke up a while later. It was no longer possible to hear the gunshots, screams, or yells. I examined my paw and saw nothing abnormal. My memories remained even if I was not human anymore. I grabbed for the gas mask that was on the adjacent table as soon as the odors began to bother me. I felt better almost immediately after adjusting it to fit my face. I reached over and put on a lab coat that was nearby. It was surprisingly not too big, although it was a little over sized. I got up and started to walk around to get used to the weight of my tail.

To my amazement, the pistol wound had disappeared. My gaze landed on the door. When I walked out, the main things I saw were a broken test tube and black liquid seeping out. So the goo’s have escaped I thought as I traversed the long corridors. I found no signs of human life…At all. As I traversed the halls I found a few wandering latex beasts, but they had no interest in me as I was basically a latex beast myself. Soon enough I found humans, rushing around screaming and yelling. So it seems they simply moved farther than I could hear I thought as I observed the chaos from the shadows. I put my paws over my ears which were down. So loud I thought. People scrambled around trying to escape the goo’s. Soon the screams and yells dyed down. Only a few bits of goo left on the floor and ripped lab coats. I walked past them without a worry. Had my emotions changed too? I’m sure I would have been horrified to see so many people transferred. I paused the thought lingering, before I continued my journey through the lab. This would not be easy to adjust too...A chunk of concrete? Did this fall from the ceiling? I looked up, a gaping hole stared back. yup, it did fall. Wait a second is that a person!? I crouched down observing the person who was passed out under the concrete. They'll die if I leave them here, but i'm not strong enough to lift a whole fucking chunk of solid concrete, insulation, and wood. A cracked open container filled with black goo caught my attention. They can't die if their a latex beast.
