Chapter 16

Antikythera cut [Message] off and stopped talking to Sakai; he informed Demiurge of this particur development.

"My scouting units have confirmed the same thing Lord Ainz has. This world is primitive by the standards of the nine realms, as well as the world I had been plucked from. It is closer to the Medieval era, to be exact."

The Archfiend nodded to acknowledge Antikythera, but his eyes were still focused on the divination mirror in front of them. "That makes some of our goals harder to achieve and puts leverage on some others for ease of acquiring."

"Like my goal of creating factories." Antikythera chimed in to the idea. He was liking the technological state of this new world more and more. "There are no ws, by the proper definition, which stop us from acting like a common pioneering group and ciming some wild nds for ourselves."

Demiurge smirked. "I agree. Perhaps creating farms in some remote location—and there are plenty—would be much more feasible in that respect. Assuming, of course, that such locations are unobserved by the local powerhouses of this world."

"It should not be an issue, right? As long as we start with basic detection magic against divination. And should an issue arise where we do face someone capable of divining locations, then we can always work out some countermeasures against them." Antikythera began listing out possibilities. "And should escation strive beyond mere divination and the observers and Nazarick come to blows, we fight back."

"Risky, but I assume you are saying this with the assumption that we have also divined against them in mind?" Demiurge's question was a bit redundant. Of course, Antikythera had thought of this!

"Yes." The Automaton confirmed. "We would know information about them, and they would have information on us in turn. After that, we follow the guidelines which Lord Bellriver has written down for 'PvP'—" whatever that meant, "—and strike at our enemies with strategies which the Supreme Beings themselves have proven to be effective, judging by their prior success rates."

Demiurge shivered, no doubt excited at the thought of utilizing strategies made and followed by the Supreme Ones. He smiled. "Yes. That would be nice."

"Lord Ainz summoned a Death Knight?" Sebas, who was standing near the couch they sat on, frowned. "What is going on?"

"Nothing," Antikythera pointed out to the butler. "He summoned an undead known to be effective against even high-level targets, thanks to its passive ability, which prevents it from being killed in a single, high-powered shot. Yet, at the same time, it is also efficient in taking down mobs of low-power levels due to its reanimation ability."

"I see." Sebas rexed. The expnation was perfectly reasonable. "Thank you for expining Lord Ainz's pn to me, Antikythera."

"You are welcome." The Automaton nodded. Turning back to the mirror, he raised an eyebrow. "Angels." In the corner of his lenses, he saw Demiurge frown. "Of the nine-realm variety at that."

"Maybe they come from the same pnes?" Sebas suggested.

"No, that's impossible." Demiurge shook his head. "Summoning magic rarely results in the same type of creature, let alone multiple copies of a single being. Low-level summoning magic is even more votile than this, and only the magic taught by the Supreme Beings is capable of bypassing this votility to summon a perpetually loyal, concerningly unthinking thrall through their spells."

"This is taught to them by someone from the nine realms," Antikythera summarized for those who could not follow Demiurge's thought process. "We aren't the only ones here?"

"Unsurprising, given that the likelihood of us being transported to this world by our lonesome is quite low, but it is concerning nevertheless." Demiurge's eyes moved to Albedo's armored form within the mirror. "She is most likely thinking of the implications of this."

Antikythera nodded, but then he froze. "Or perhaps she is currently unable to think due to her being so close in proximity to Lord Ainz."

Cocytus sighed. "Her. Mind. Easily. Fogs. When. Thinking. Of. Lord. Ainz."

"Indeed." Antikythera tilted his head. "We should inform her of this when she gets back."

Then, as a shock to them all, the robed human who Lord Ainz had been conversing with for the past few minutes pulled out a spell crystal and began to act fervorous. Cocytus stood up in concern, most likely moving to help the Supreme One, but then he was stopped by Antikythera.

"There. Could. Be. Something. Dangerous. Hiding. In. That. Spell," said the insect knight.

  "Why?"

"Because Lord Ainz would not find this type of situation difficult." Antikythera replied with a shake of his head. What was Cocytus thinking? "Lord Ainz would not lose to such a measly human, even if they had one spell which could somehow harm him."

And speaking of spells, the crystal glowed, and the contained spell within was released. Antikythera's camera lenses shuttered in a blink. "That's it?"

"He seemed rather fervorous earlier," murmured Demiurge, sharing everyone's confusion.

"That. Archangel. Can. Take. Out. Most. Of. The. Denizens. Of. Nazarick." Cocytus rightfully pointed out.

"Yeah, but... really?" Antikythera made a confused gesture. "I could do better than that, and I'm not even a specialized summoner. Demiurge has at least several dozen summons which can contend with it, and he has a group summoning spell which can throw out five demons of such power at the same time."

"[Call of Sin] is enough to kill it, yes. More than enough," Demiurge agreed. "That man should not have felt that excited about such a ckluster summon."

"Maybe he is someone who was given power and assumed it to be absolute?" Sebas tilted his head.

  "Very likely," Antikythera said.

  "A high possibility." Demiurge nodded.

"Mages. And. Their. Borrowed. Power." Cocytus was now shaking his head in disapproval.

Lord Ainz, for some reason, allowed the archangel to unch one attack against him—most likely to estimate the damage value of such a powerful entity in this new world—but then, true to his title of a Supreme Being, the archangel was killed by him in a single spell.

"He looks... devastated." The usually stoic Sebas had a frown tugging at the edges of his lips. "What?"

"What indeed." Demiurge stood up. "I am done with watching this farce. Though I am happy to witness the power of Lord Ainz in person, watching the mortal fumble about like some child killed my joy. I am now going to wait in the ice dungeons to extract information from him to give myself the satisfaction which he rightfully took."

"Goodbye." Cocytus raised a giant hand. He faced Antikythera. "I. Thought. You. Would. Also. Do. Something?"

"I already messaged Sakai to send in scouting units near Carne and observe the local forest. I don't need to do much, really. I will wait for Lord Ainz to arrive and see if he has any tasks for me... Hm."

"Did something happen?" Sebas gave Antikythera a concerned look.

"Not really. I was just informed that the scouting unit investigating the second vilge we found has interfered with the locals and is now requesting further instructions." Antikythera stood up. "It is standing still and letting the fearful vilgers pelt it with rocks as we speak."

"Good luck." Sebas nodded at him as he left.

"Thank you." Antikythera walked out the door and messaged Aureole Omega to allow him to open a gate. This needed to be taken care of immediately. He did not inform his fellow guardians of this, but the vilge was connected to a criminal organization of this world, and knowing those unsavory sorts, they would not let any interference rest until the perpetrator was killed.
