Getting the job

She stood up to her feet and wiped her tears as she mentally said goodbye to the last gift her mother ever got her.

  "Hey, wait."

She turned to her side and scanned his face while he inquired about what had happened. He stood tall with visible white streaks in his honey brown shaven hair and low cut beards, his thick brows furrowed while his eyes scanned her face as he called out to her again.

"Are you okay?" He asked after taking notice of how shaken she was.

"It was my Bicycle." She mumured in response.

"Am sorry about that. Darn I forgot to check on the puppies." He groaned and dashed back to his car.

Her eyes lit up when got a glimpse of the little furry golden retrievers whimpering and barking cutely as she trailed behind him. She watched open him open the back door and rake his hands over their heads while they whimpered and licked him palm.Jane couldn't help but gasp when one of the puppies launched at her, but she was quick to grasp it. She smiled while it moved in grasp, yet it went calm when she looked into it's eyes. It nugded its head to the side and barked softly while she chuckled at how cute it was.

"He likes you." The man confessed with a smile.

She however broke out of her trance when a car horned behind his while the driver screamed for him to get out of his way.Jane sighed and handed the puppy back to him.

"Thank you." She said and moved to leave. Yet he grasped her by the arm and handed the puppy back to her.

"I was looking for a good home for him but I think he found one." He replied and shut the door before getting in the driver's seat.

"Wait, what if I can't take care of him?"She asked with widened eyes as she watched him ignite the engines with the keys and handed her a brown paper bag with a smile

"Please take care of him" he replied and drove off.Jane groaned as she thought about how she would catter for him in the mist of all her troubles. She sighed when the puppy looked into her eyes and nugded his head to the side again.

"I have to take you to the animal shelter so you can find a better home," Jane muttered and walked towards the first one she saw down the street, but when she got there, she stood at the door, realizing how much she needed him, probably more than he needed her.

"I'll call you, smiley, cause you make me smile." She confessed with a chuckle and watched him bark softly.

Jane got home after a long while and found Salma exactly were she had left her, she chuckled and dropped the puppy on her face. Her brows furrowed while she felt something warm and furry on her face, her eyes went open when she felt something warm and wet stroke her cheek.

"Ahhh, get your balls out of my face" she screamed and jolted awake, it quickly turned to an "awww" when she saw the furry creature on her bed.

"Where did you get this guy," she cooked and stroked her fingers through his fur.

"Some man gave him to me after he ran over the guy that stole my bicycle" she confessed and watched her smile fall into a thin line.

"Damn, I'm so sorry, I know how much it meant to you but, look on the bright side, you got this cute little guy in return," she replied with a smile

"I know" she muttered and took the paper bag the man had handed over to her.

Her eyes widened when she saw some dollar notes in it, she counted it and realized it would be more than enough to get some supplies for her new furry friend and settle some of her bills.

"See, he's bringing blessings already" Salma exclaimed

"Yeah, we resume work tommorow" she replied and watched her brows furrow.

"Always trying to kill the excitement, I see. Is there any cute guy around there?"

"Yeah there is this guy that works there, he looks okay"

"Is it every guy that looks okay to you, I've never heard you talk about any guy or gush at them, should I be worried cause I'm already suspecting you," she narrowed her eyes and watched her chuckle in response.

"You don't need to, I just have a lot on my mind, I probably haven't found a guy I'm really attracted to yet,"

"Good, cause you can't say you'd choose a girl over a man's with hard chisled chest and those veiny arms, God and if he had a nice ass, it's finished," Salma exlcaimed while he held her arms in the air envisioning spanking them.

"You are crazy" said Jane. She chuckled at her facial expressions before she lay down on her bed.

"That's why you love me" Salma replied and resumed playing with the puppy. Jane stared at them with a light smile on her face, thinking about how much her life had changed after she met Salma. She was easy to be around and could easily know when a person needed to laugh or be left alone, being her roommate was the best thing that ever happened to her. Salma had problems of her own but she always tried to make jokes out of them, it was something Jane could never do no matter how hard she tried, but sometimes she got scared her only friend would eventually forget about her when the time would come for her to leave and start a life of her own.

Jane pushed the thoughts away and blamed herself for always thinking that way, but one could hardly blame her after all she had been through. She clouded her thoughts with the tasks she had to complete, the next payment would be in two weeks and she had to meet up this time.

"Thinking about your problems never helps, everything will be fine" Salma broke her thoughts and flashed her a smile.

"Everything will be fine" she mumbled in response.
