Rob treasure hunt

At the dawn of their 4th day journey, a silhouette appeared over the horizon.

"Wake up! hey!" Sebastian chirped "I think we're here!"

Everyone jumped from their seats and looked at the silhouette, it's a silhouette of a really tall building.

  "That's the building!" Shanna cheered.

"Shanna, let's put on your space- i mean hazmat suit," said Enid.

He parked their vehicle on the edge of the ruins. After Enid and Shanna returned from the back. He told them to packed some med kits, meal boxes, while he carried the air purifier.

  "Don't forget weapon!" Shanna reminded.

He nodded, telling Enid and Shanna to get the weapons from the back compartment.

Seeing them left, "Quick get our corinths."

Rob took the their corinths from the compartment and passed one to Sebastian, he also packing their drones.

"Leave it, it might scares of her families."

"Huh? it will be easier if we-"

  He shook his head.

Rob mumbled while putting drone back to the compartment.

"Their done," he looked outside "hide our rai'cawl there," he pointed at the crumbled building nearby.

Rob drove their vehicle to the crumbled building, and they went out.

Hmm.. Sebastian rubbing his chin "Rob, throw some rubble on the roof to conceals it."

Enid and Shanna approaching them. She waved the spiked pipe at him.

"Shanna, did your father tell you where he'd gone to?" Sebastian took the pipe and sheathed it between his bag.

"He only told me he found lots of parts and supplies here."

  "I see.."

Robe threw the last rubble before dusting off his hands "Hey, what's the plan?"

Sebastian opened his map "Hmm.. we'll scours the nearby area first.. for now."

The ruins was mostly covered in snow, it was larger than it was shown on the map. They have been walking for quite a distance, but still there were no sign of her families.

  "Look there!" Rob called.

"Wh- What!?" he looked around "did you see them?"

"That vehicle!" he pointed at the picture on the nearby building "so cool."

Enid gave Rob a sting eye.

DM Serval DeL re n (some letters were faded), he’s right, it is a really cool looking vehicle Sebastian thought.

Rob ripped the picture from the wall and stored it in his bag. They continued their search, but he again called them and pointing at something.

"Did you see them this time?" asked Enid.

"No, but there's a symbol on that building,"

Sebastian stared at the building, 3 dots? it was not the weird symbol from the village.

"That's-" Shanna ran to the building.

  They followed her.

  "What is it?" asked Enid.

"It’s ours, we used it to mark the place we already visited."

  "Let's check it out!"

They went inside the building. Sebastian kicked a box laid on the ground in front of the entrance. Rob took the box and flipped it, his eyes lit.

"Yo, Sebas! this- this is the game system back on our shi- i mean home."

"A what?" Enid looking at them.

  Rob handed him the box.

"Ninseiga.. you're right," he beamed. He remembered his father always mentioned playing ninseiga games during his childhood days, before the game system parts were used to fix other essential devices.

"It must be around here somewhere, let's find it." urged Rob

"We don't have time for that!" Enid yelled

"Please.. only for a few minutes. Shanna, you don't mind, do you?"

She stared at him for a few moments before finally nodded.

"Great!" he raised his hand "Sebas, help me find it!"

  "Sebas!" Enid protested.

"Alright.." he saw Enid glared at him "but, make it quick.." he added.

They scoured the whole building, but couldn't find any intact game system. Shanna's family had taken everything apart. They found a stairs going to the lower floors, but it was blocked by a fallen ceiling.

  "Help me moves it."

"No," said Enid "let's just continue find her family."

Rob sighed and nodded. He told Enid to head outside first with Shanna. She looking at him confused, but she obliged and they went outside. After they left, he took out his corinth.

  "What are yo-" Sebastian perplexed.

He shot the debris, blowing it into smithereens and shook the whole building. Fortunately it wasn't collapsing over them.

"Damn it, Rob! You want to bury us?"

"What's that sound?" Enid went back inside. She was shocked to see debris everywhere "What did you do!" she coughed.

"What happened?" Shanna followed behind her, looking scared.

Rob swiftly stashed his corinth inside his bag, before smirking at them.

"Let's go!" Rob waving his hand, he went downstairs.

  "Hey, wait!"

  They followed him downstairs.

The place was dark. They turned on the light on their wristbands. Thanks to the Rachnite’s gift, his wristband shone brighter.

"Shanna, says light on," Sebastian told her.

She did that and her suit began to glows, illuminating the darkness "Wow.." she gasped.

There were more rooms downstairs, but after searching around, they only found some broken computers or furniture, still no sign of the game system. They stumbled upon a steel door at end of the corridor, it was locked.

They tried to pried it with Shanna's weapons, only to snapped it into two; she was horrified and refused to let Rob used hers. Not wanting to yield yet, he began kicking the door.

"Stop! stop!" Sebastian waving his hands "Look, there's a panel beside it."

Rob quickly examined the panel. He smiled "We need to power up this door."

He remembered they saw a fuse box at the previous room. They went to the room where the fuse box was. Rob pulled the lever, it didn't work, the backup generator was also busted. He repeatedly pulled the lever.

Enid sighed "Just give it up."

Rob closed his eyes for a moments before snapping his fingers. He took out the energy charger for their corinth and hooked it on the fuse box. He pulled the lever and the lights above them flickered.

  "Taa daa!" Rob smirked.

Shanna clapped while Sebastian and Enid shook their heads/

Back at the steel door, Rob waved at the panel and the door slides open. Inside there were stacks of game system still packed inside their boxes.

  "Woo hoo! Jackpot!" Rob cheered.

They found several ninseiga swift still in good condition. There were also other type of game systems they never seen before called xonestation and neosteambox.

"I think this is the game," Sebastian flipped a small device with picture on them, it said hyper plumber bros. He also found another game, but this one for the xonestation, it was called Valdur's Door 10.

"Oh yeah! let's gather everything!" Rob raised his hand.

He told them to brought all of it upstairs while he stayed behind to dismantled some of the game system for their parts.

A while later, Rob walked out from the building, carrying stacks of parts while humming happily.

"Happy? now let's find her family," said Enid.

Rob smiled "Okay, but first, i want to bring all of this back to our rai'cawl."

Enid sighed "Fine! go bring it back yourself, we'll continue looking for her family."

"Okay, I'll catch up later," he was about to leave.

"Rob! wait!" Sebastian looking around, he pointed at the small house nearby "If you finished bringing back all of those, wait for us there."

Rob stared at the house "Okay."

They left Rob behind and went to continued looking for her family.

They searched for another block, but still, there's no sign of her family.

"Where are you father.." she murmured.

A crunched noise coming from behind of nearby building. Sebastian motioned at the others to stopped. He slowly approached the building, but Shanna called for her father. There was no response, but there was another crunched noise. He told them to stay back and went to checked it. Slowly approaching the corner, he peeked the alley, however no one was there. He waved at them to come closer.

"Maybe a falling debris?" said Enid

"Look there," he pointed at the snow.

  "Is that footprints?"

Shanna called again, but no one replied. "Let's follow the footprints," she suggested.

"Sebas.." Enid murmured "I have bad feeling about this.."

Sebastian rubbed his chin before looking at sky. It was getting dark and the snow began falling "No, let's head back, we'll continue tomorrow.."

  "Why not?" Shanna protested.

"He is right, it's dangerous looking for them in the dark.." Enid clasped her hands "and.. you look tired, let's take some rest.. okay?"

  "But- okay.."

They went back to the house; Shanna walked ahead of them, sulking.

"It's odd, those footprints.. it seemed they were running away from us.." whispered Enid.

"Yeah.. whatever it is, i don't think its her family.."

Rob waving at them in front of the house. When they arrived there, he proudly informed them he had sealed the whole house. Sebastian thanked him and went inside. The place was cozy, for a rundown house. He placed the air purifier from his bag on the floor.

"By the way, i also set up a portable toilet at the bathroom," Rob added.

"Oh, thank you," Enid ran to the bathroom.

After helping removing Shanna’s spacesuit. Enid opened her bag and distributed meal boxes she was carrying.

"Slow down will you.." said Enid.

But Shanna quickly gulped all her portion, and asked for more. He was glad she's no longer sulking.

Rob asked "hey, i was wondering... i didn't see any animals on the way here, so.. what did you ate, before meeting us?"

"We have a rat and lizard farm in our hideout, we grow mushrooms too, and if we were lucky, foods we found from the ruins.. Sometimes peddlers from other settlement came, i longed to eat that dried fishes from the sea.."

"I guess what we had been through before meeting the watcher still way better than here," Rob whispered to Sebastian.

"So.. there's other human settlement?" Sebastian asked.

"There are.. but we lost contact with all of them.. the last was with the peddler few years ago.." she clutched her spoon "Maybe they- when i was alone at the hideout, i tried contacting them with the walkie talkie but no one-"

  "With a what?" Rob asked.

She took a small device from her bag, and showed it to them, it looked like the communication device back at their old ship.

"I was hoping someone to replied.. i tried contacting them again on the way here-"

"So.. that signal we detected.." Rob waving his fork "It's from that thing.."

"The signal we captured when we flew- visit here, was from that too?" Enid clasped her hands "That walkie talkie.. brought us together then.."

  "Really?" Shanna stared at them.

"Yeah, if it not for that thing, we might never met you," Sebastian smiled, I'm glad we found that signal

After eating, they chat for a while, as always, Shanna was interested with their home and kept asking them to tell her more. Sebastian have to made up most of it, giving him a huge headache, Rob didn't help with his constant grinning.
