Questions could be heard inside as we eavesdropped on them.
"Where did the boys go?"
An extremely infuriating lie came out of the girl's mouth.
"Mom! Those bastards harassed us! They-"
We opened the door and stormed in. I spoke loudly.
"Stop lying!"
They paused, and then, the girl started talking rapid fire.
"Hegropedmychestandheaskedsohowdoyoulikeit. Isppedhiminthefaceandnowheismad."
"Keep lying, keep lying."
I closed my eyes and rubbed my brows. At this point I wasn't even mad. We didn't even know each other's names and this happened. What was even the reason in the first pce?
Eventually she got tired as she stopped talking. We just stood there dumbfounded as everything she said passed over our heads.
The baker was the first to act. She picked up her daughter who was the same size as her casually before sitting down.
"See you ter young miss, I'll need to first discipline this daughter of mine."
The sudden change between looking at us and smiling and giving a ferocious look at her daughter was scary.
"Life in Piltover is truly good."
I praised through a mouthful of bread. We sat at a bench eating sandwiches stuffed with thinly sliced meat and cheese.
"So how is the outside world?"
"Do you want to hear about Demacia or my travels so far?"
"Let's start again with Demacia. I've heard about Noxus and Shurima from my parents."
Stuffing the st crumbs down my throat, I started at a different pce than where I've left off. They listened intently on how life was on the other side of the continent.
"Demacia. I've never really been to Demacia City, so all I've heard about it is that there's grand structures sculpted out of petricite. I lived much further upstream in Terbisia. But even then I lived closer to the woods than the town. My mother made pottery and my father died in the line of duty so I didn't have much. Water was boiled from the river after passing it through some cloth. Bread, jerky and fruit were our food. You know butter? Yeah, we don't have that."
"What? No butter? That means no cheese as well... how do you live like that? If I ever go to Demacia I'm going to bring at least one stick of cheese. Wait, no. At least one wheel of cheese, cow cheese, not goat cheese."
"Can you shut up? I'm trying to listen here."
Anna hit Ezreal.
"We don't have showers, or those sitting toilets. Other than that, there's only the big difference of hextech thingies."
Looks of pity were cast upon me. I protested by pointing at him.
"Hey, you know if you go travelling you'll live like how I do. Dusty, dirty, low amounts of water."
"Heh, there's a gadget that collects fresh water from trees and ponds."
He rubbed his nose as he bragged about Piltover.
A few days passed since the incident. Various other explosions had happened as well.
A hurried Ezreal rushed by with a bun in his mouth and scrolls in his hands. Soon he came back again with empty hands. Rushing again, now he's holding rope and tools?
"Hey!"
I followed behind him. Everything he had seemed reted exploration. He turned his head and stopped. I asked seriously.
"Do you need help?"
"If you could that would be great."
A somber tone unlike his usual came out. I nodded, before helping carry some of his things.
Immediately after dropping the things off at his house I asked.
"What's the matter?"
He sat on a crate.
"My parents haven't been back for a few months. They are most likely dead. Don't give me that pitying look. In our line of business, death is always beside us."
"Then what are the equipment for? You. Are going to follow their footsteps right?"
"Can't hide it forever."
He shrugged. I'm worried he'll die in some ditch somewhere. Stubbornness runs through his bones, no amount of persuasion will work. So I chose the next best option.
"I'll go with you."
"Thanks man."
I just needed to inform Anna and my boss. Taking a leave this early in a job isn't the greatest, but I'm sure my abilities make it hard to find a substitute. I was pnning on traveling anyways, just that my pns were pushed ahead. The atmosphere in the city has gotten worse these days, with bombings and other disruptions.
"So when do we leave? It's best to arrive before they run out of supplies in a ruin somewhere. Anyways, I just need to tip off some people before I leave."
"Let's go tomorrow. I got some extra rope you can use. I'll brief you as we go. Let's meet at my pce before dawn."
[If you're reading this, it means that I went exploring with Ezreal. We are going to search for his parent's inheritance which is the st ruin they were at. I'll be safe don't worry. --- From Aerth]
The paper crumbled as anger radiated from Anna's face. She gritted her teeth.
"That bastard... What does he think he's doing!? Leaving me behind..."
She soon quickly smoothed it out before pcing it away.
"So we sneak onto the ship and then what?"
We stood at a pier near the south side. Ships traveling to and from Shurima left in one direction and arrived from a different direction.
"We just eat some snacks and wait, simple right?"
"What if the ship sinks?"
"So what if the ship sinks? With me here, no ship can sink! Now let's start."
Why do we need to sneak on instead of paying for a seat? I scattered the extra thoughts as I focused. The original pn was to use a cargo box and get carried over. In fact, it was the same pn, just slightly tweaked.
"I would like to have a seat. How much is it?"
"Twenty silver. No discounts."
I forked over the coins as I noticed the gaze sent towards the rge backpack I wore.
"All food. Gotta maintain these muscles while traveling."
I flexed my biceps. I was wearing a short sleeved shirt with a leather tunic on top. Comfort and practicality as I could add armor whenever I needed.
"We're departing in an hour."
The sailor shouted as I walked up the gangpnk. I didn't lie. Shaddock, a Piltovan variety of citrus as well as jerky, compressed biscuit and some gadgets could be found inside the bag.
"How long til I can get out?"
A muffled voice came from the backpack as a suspicious tube stuck out a side. We made use of the original water tube to cheapen the cost. Twenty silver is already a lot, with us pooling our money. Fifteen from me and five from Ezreal.
"Quiet, if I'm seen talking to my backpack we can get deported."
