34 – Sand, snad, ruins (1)

  lirvothethird

  Ezreal sat up.

"What's the point of following me if not to explore?"

  "I'm fine with just cash."

  I interrupted abruptly.

"And you can take the relics. But half of the value in cash is given to me."

  "Deal!"

We bumped fists as a sign of our agreement. We never really talked about how we would distribute it anyways.

"It's so fucking hot! My hair and skin is gonna get dry..."

Ezreal reached into his bag for his pomade1hair conditioner. lol for the third time already. It's a miracle that the sandy winds didn't turn him into a statue. It really seemed like he lived off his hair and not water.

The father and mother of the twins whispered to each other as they watched us. They led the giant Skalshi. It was my turn to walk. And to be honest, walking is better than riding for me, as the rocking of the camel would tire me more.

Everyone talked less and less as the water supplies need to be conserved. I waved away the cloth used to cover the mouth away using the fact my magic made me unaffected by the sand. I still took up the offer on the thin see-through cloak, as the sun beat down hard.

The sand stretched out endlessly as the dunes and slopes barely changed. As we left around the same time as other caravans, there were still faint traces of their path.

However. The ground deep underneath is a different story. Large caverns and winding tunnels housed something. Just something. Something was there, lurking. But it was far away.

After a day of walking, the sun slowly set as the desert turned orange, then red.

By the time we set up camp, it was dark. There was a reason why we braved the scorching heat instead of walking in the dark. And the reason was showing itself... Or rather, how the experience was accumuted. Aduj'veedar, the father of the twins started speaking in Shuriman after we ate.

"Munnh you transte for these foreigners. Xer'sai like to hunt in the dark, foul Kmiros are still present during the day but you can see them from far away."

"He's talking about uhhh - what was Xer'sai in Piltovan again?"

Minnh elbowed Munnh in the darkness as I y underneath the sand. The air outside cooled rapidly as the story continued.

"Xer'sai is Xer'sai, why bother? Xer'sai are said to be purple. They hunt from their tunnels by sensing travellers above them -"

The voices droned on and on as I fell asleep.

  "Water!!! THERE'S SOME WATER UNDERGROUND!"

The entire caravan stopped. We had combined with another group a few days ago. A person grabbed my shoulders from behind and shook it. My entire body was shaken as a scream bsted my ears. I had learned some Shuriman with the help of the twins.

"WATER!!??? WHAT FUCK IS UNDERGROUND WATER!!!!"

"Stop it... Stop shaking... I'm getting dizzy... Not! Give me your fsks, I gonna go fill it."

Right after I said that, I sunk below the sand as they looked at me in doubt. Quickly arriving at the deep underground river beneath the sands, I noticed just how soft the sandstone was. Popping my head through, I was greeted with a small clear stream of water.

I had thought water was unneeded with this body of mine, but I was soooo so wrong. The sun was an unforgiving thing in the desert.

Holding my fsk against the current, it filled up in an instant as I headed with my treasure in tow.

  "Look!"

They looked on as I poured the water onto the sand. Clicks and sighs as well as shaking their head happened as looked at my wasteful act. They then proceeded to give whatever they can to fill with water.

"Hey. You sure you're not gonna have them pay for the water?"

"If you give those in need, hopefully they won't hit us in the back ter."

I whispered to Ezreal. He whispered back again.

"But the time after? Are you going to keep giving for free? They're gonna take it for granted. If you want to have it be almost free, just take a securi. Here. I'll be the first one."

A devious grin was pstered on his face as he took out a securi openly letting the others see it and handing it with his fsk to me. In a daze, I accepted it. Seeing how even my close friend gave coins, the others started giving it too after I first filled the ones that gave it to me.

  "Is it time to explore?"

I nodded. We had gotten far enough with their help. Now that there was a suitable and safe pce to leave, we should take the opportunity to leave.

"We're leaving now. Thank you for the ride."

I bowed before waving as they left. Shouldering our backpacks, we trekked backwards where I previously found some structure underground. Ezreal started compining a few minutes ter.

"How about we buy a camel next time? The sands killing me."

"Do you know how to feed and take care of one? Also when we go explore a ruin who's gonna stop it from running?"

  "Uuughhh."

  "Almost there..."

Now we were right above the thing. Should we just bust through the top? I closed my eyes before feeling for an entrance. WHO MAKES THINGS SYMMETRICAL?

"Can't find the entrance, let's just go through the wall."

Making a staircase in the suspicious size of myself, we looked at the walls buried in the sand using the mp. What looked Shuriman but wasn't was pstered in a line around it.

  "Meh."

I reached out to open the wall when I was stopped.

"I think there's magical sigils in pce..."

With that said, he brought out a thing that made the objects looked through it bigger. He nonchantly stood away from the wall as he gestured towards it.

"It'll be fine, I'm sure it's not dangerous, probably something to keep animals away. Go, have a go at it."

"Uhhh. How about searching for an entrance?"

  "That'll take days. Days!"

  "Okay. Here I go."

Coating my hand in some of the sandstone near my feet, I braced myself to punch the wall.

  "One. TWO!! Ahhhhh!!!"
