Chapter 197- Final War (Part 7)

Jaclyn’s eyes squinted as she focused on the distortion in space in front of her, a human like figure emerged, levitating with his hands behind his back, his blue eyes glowing in the dark and cloudy sky. His voice was deep and menacing like a beast, yet he wore a brown suit with a black tie, long black jeans and short violet hair.

“Athena, I have come for you”.

“There has to be some kind of weakness to this right”?

Athena suddenly held her own neck as she tried to breathe but she couldn’t yet her lungs were still full, trying to choke herself out of the dream, as sweat poured down her forehead.

  “It’s not working damn it”!!

Jaclyn stared at the large wooden puppet right above her as a golden sword manifested in her hands.

“Come on, Athena, think of something I’ll buy you some time”.

The entire ground began to fold onto itself, rapidly changing colors as the ground became the sky itself.

The colors were bright and neon, visual noise that was able to completely blind a person.

  Athena’s mind started blanking.

  “I can’t think, we’re in a dream after all”.

  Athena started slapping herself.

  “Wake up”.

  Athena sighed.

  “Wake up”.

Asami’s fingers intertwined as hawks began to dive from above the Gods at 50 times the speed of sound, the moment they interacted with the puppet hands, the birds splattered.

  “He’s invincible”.

A tiger like creature manifested from thin air, as the large creature began to climb up the building, directly pouncing onto the God.

With one wave of his hand, the air became stronger, like knives slicing through the tighter like butter.

Jaclyn began to run up on the folding building, jumping on the wooden hand, as her golden sword swung towards the large puppet.

The man caught her sword with a single hand as she was sent away into the sky, crashing into a building as the concrete pillars began to collapse.

Yuki’s fingers crossed as an invisible energy surrounded her fingertips, slowly pulling the man towards the ground, but the man resisted, his hands behind his back as he stared down.

Ying Xin gripped her spear as she locked onto the floating man, throwing her black spear like a flash, towards the man.

The man caught the spear by the tip, as blood drew from his fingertips, as he immediately let go.

“What is that weapon? How did it damage me in my dreamscape”??

Time and space are relative, by controlling one, you can influence the other, her spear isn’t just cutting physical objects. It’s cutting through space itself.

Jaclyn walked out of the collapsing building behind her as she ran straight towards the man, the air around her booming and collapsing the buildings around her as she dashed.

She pulled out a golden bow of light as she pulled the string back, the golden arrow began to glow like a small sun as she let go.

The arrow fired like a beam of light, burning hotter than the inner core of the sun yet the man caught it without even looking, crushing the arrow into nothingness.

“Athena, I am here for you”.

Ying Xin spun her spear around as she began to try to affect him with her power, yet he was completely immune to any kind of debuff.

“How fun! You’re immune to me”!

Athena calmed herself down as her mind began to wander.

“That’s definitely Hypnos, his way of speaking, it’s all the same as I remember”.

Yuki’s teeth gritted as she kept trying to pull the man down towards the ground, she breathed heavily as the flying man began to waver from Yuki’s telekinesis.

Athena started to focus on her breathing, trying to move every single joint in her body one at a time.

“This isn’t working, what am I even supposed to do”?

A shock went through Athena’s brain, as her question was answered by an anonymous voice going through her head.

  [Find the weakness]

“Who is the person controlling this dimension”?

  [Hypnos, the God of Sleep]

“This place, it can answer my question”.

  Athena started to smile.

  “I’ll break it”.

She held her chin as she spoke calmly.

“If Khaos is almighty then, can she create a sword she cannot sheathe”?

  [Eh-eh]

A crack behind her appeared, slowly starting to suck her inside her the endless crack.

  “Hey! I found the exit”!

The moment she peered through the exit, the darkness began to encroach her, an overpowering feeling that predated the dawn of the universe, this was the first time she felt this yet it felt so familiar.

  Erebus was here

Athena poked her head out in the real world, Erebus stood in front of a decrepit man, the same man they were fighting before, this time he wasn’t protected by the dreamscape.

Erebus stepped on him as the entire ground began to shake, buildings began to rumble under the weight of his foot.

  “Perish, you mongrel”.

Erebus lifted his foot once more and splattered his face into a pool of golden ichor.

“You’ll all face what is coming to you, you’ll understand what it is like to lose what you love most”.

Athena covered her mouth as she tried to stay as still as possible.

Jaclyn dashed towards the floating man, as she swung her sword, yet the moment she got close he became slumped over within the palm of the wooden puppet.

  “Huh”?

Jaclyn looked down at Athena, she was clenching her hands and gritting her teeth.

Jaclyn glided down from atop, walking towards Athena as she peered through the crack instead the dreamscape.

“Athena, so Erebus killed him right? Then it means the others must be awake too, I hid them safely so they shouldn’t be in the way of Erebus”.

  Athena nodded her head.

“Without Hypnos, this dream world will collapse, we have to get out of here without Erebus knowing, either that or we all get trapped here forever”.

Yuki dragged Ying Xin by the collar as she slumped to the ground.

Yuki’s eyes squinted as she stared at Athena.

“Mom, how do you even plan to run away from him? He’s not someone who’ll care for what you have to say so it’s impossible to talk your way out of this”.

Jaclyn took off the black leather glove on her left hand, as she revealed a large burn on her hand.

“This is a scar from when you and me fought Zeus, Athena. I am the hero, I can only be killed by those the story deems important, Erebus can’t kill me so I can distract him while you all run, I will catch up later”.

  Yuki squinted her eyes.

  “That’s literally just plot armor”.

  Asami spoke up.

“What makes you so sure that you’ll survive? You’re just a kid, I feel bad for making you sacrifice for us”.

The buildings around Jaclyn began to collapse as the ground beneath them began to shatter like glass.

Jaclyn gripped each side of the dimensional crack as she pulled them apart to create a bigger hole to get through.

  “Get through”.

Jaclyn jumped down the hole as she met face to face with Erebus as crowds of people surrounded them, staring at Erebus who had just killed a person in front of the large crowd.

[Are you kidding me? Erebus is going to murder all of them]

Jaclyn immediately ran out of the crack as she dashed towards Erebus.

“Everyone! Run! That’s the Demon King damn it”!

Erebus looked just like any other human, his long black hair draped over his music conductor like suit, his coattails reached to his knees.

He was an orchestra conductor, someone who directs a group of musicians to appease the single audience member, Khaos herself to even gain the slightest bit from her.

  The crowd began to mutter.

“The demon king? Why would he be here”?

“Isn’t that the girl from TV? The one that completely annihilated that city”!

“He doesn’t seem very intimidating for a demon king does he”?

Centimeters before Jaclyn had even touched Erebus, the sky immediately darkened as the shadow underneath her merged with the surroundings, shadows pierced through her like spears.

“Hero Jaclyn, this is the second time we’ve met”.

He spoke in calm tone as he walked up to Jaclyn’s bloody face, her arms and legs were completely restricted by the spikes in the ground that pierced through her like a kebab.

“So tell me? How do you plan on defeating me? Humanity’s sturdiest slave”.

Jaclyn stared at him with a look of distaste like she was looking at a disgusting piece of trash.

Erebus stared back at her with a calm stare.

“Don’t you hate them? These people? They have shamed you for saving them from tragedy, these people deserve worse, don’t you think so? Let’s have some fun shall we”?

Erebus grabbed Jaclyn’s face as he threw her straight through a glass building.
