Lisa sighed as she reviewed her reserves. She was lucky she got a room contract for her room for a week for almost all of her silver before the loud otherworlders came in to ‘live like real adventurers’. She almost scoffed at this thinking they were just a bunch of rich kids. Almost worse than entitled nobles. It did not help one group of three were looking at here like she was some catch. If she did not have any other option, she would have left then and there, but she did not. In the morning they were found by some of the other adventurer regulars laughing and explaining why they do not startle a B rank.
In the morning, or rather afternoon after the first proper full sleep she have had in months, she ate a late brunch and left to get as much traveling supplies as she could before getting a notice from her guild badge her interview was in a hour. She cursed at this as that did not even give her time to wash beforehand. Luckily however one of her purchases was a temporary scent remover.
When she arrived, the guild was as lively as it was the day before. When she got inside however she was getting some cold stares from one of the staff.
“ You’re late, you were meant to be here forty-five minutes ago!”
Lisa looked at the clerk annoyed.
“ That is when I got the message to show up.”
As she said this she showed the message she got on her badge. The clerk then went to her own badge and made an annoyed face as well.
“ Well there is no helping it. Meeting room six.”
Lisa just sighs and walks towards the stairs, taking less than a minute to get to the meeting halls, and not to her surprise an elf was standing outside the door for the meeting.
“ Well, well, well, the fleabag shows up almost an entire hour late. Luckily for the young sir, I managed to find a replacement inter...”
Suddenly Jameson goes quiet as a draconian hand grabs his neck from behind.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
“ In all my two hundred years in this position, I thought I saw it all.”
With a flick of the wrist the elf’s neck becomes bent in an unnatural angle.
“ The guild is an old institution, founded by ancient otherworlders. We like to think we are above corruption, and usually, we turn a blind eye to it. However, we do have immutable laws. One of which we do not mess around with otherworlders. Adventurer Millisa.”
Lisa bowed her head to the dragonkin guild leader.
“ Guild leader.”
The ancient dragonkin drops the body of the elf.
“ It is sad to see such a skilled administrator spoil, but when one cleans house, it is best to be thorough. Do not mind the body, someone will be coming later. I believe you are late for a meeting.”
“ Ah, yes guild leader, I was told it was this...”
Lisa turned her attention to the door for a moment and found both the body of Jameson and the guildleader gone.
“ Of course...”
She then sighs and knocks on the door. A moment later it is opened by the otherworlders maid summon while his other one stood guard by the door. To her surprise James had several maps and documents on a table with a platter of food and wine to the side.
“ Oh, Millisa, did I make you wait too long? I am not quite done with lunch, but I guess if you wanted to start early.”
Lisa just shrugs and walks into the room.
“ I am told to show up and I show up. Never hurts to be a little early.”
The otherworlder then gestures to the table.
“ This is the progress of a days work so far. Don’t worry, you get twenty silver just for showing up. Now can you write? If not then my maid construct can transcribe for you.”
Lisa moves over to the table while the maid construct moves to refill the otherworlders wine. It does not take him long to start drinking it and finish what appeared to be a tart with some dark jam. It took her less than a few minutes to find the work done so far had been done by some very opportunistic minds to train the otherworlder but line their own pockets as much as possible.
“ Well, for starters I would definitely not start with the Juvile Crossways. Yes, it is a major trade hub but that means anyone not a local will have to pay taxes just going in and out of the town. And I will guarantee you any team that says it is a good idea will have ways to make coins out of your coffers. I see a few suggested Highland Passes, and that is even worse. Not because of greed, but because that land is bordered to a high-level zone where creatures often hunt for food in the area. Not to mention the death cults that regularly appear in the area.”
Lisa then looked over the maps a little more and pointed to an out-of-the-way dungeon.
“ Lone Field dungeon, recommended level one to five. This is the first place I would go. There is not much loot, just vermin animals, but it is not too hard either. And it will teach you the very basics you need without being in too much danger.”
Lisa then moves her finger to a nearby dungeon.
“ From there you can go to the Goblin Cavern. Not much there buy some goblin junk and such, but it will teach you how to deal with traps and ambushes.”
From there Lisa starts laying out a plan of conquest that spanned over twenty dungeons. Each one would be one that will teach Jeffery something new while helping him level. She did not even notice the maid construct taking notes of this.
