Chapter 8: A Mission Worth 10,000 Points

After Gwe, Peter lost all desire to sleep.

Since he was still wide awake, he decided to dive bato his stific research.

If Gwen could use web shooters, then so could he.

After all, he had already created web shooters before.

Starting over wouldn't take much effort.

  The night passed.

By m, Peter had pleted the web shooters.

Due to the chaos caused by the Green Goblin at the sidtown Tech High had suspended csses for the day.

  Peter slept until noon.

If Uncle Ben hadn't woken him up, he might have slept even longer.

After washing up, Peter headed out to the ese supermarket to buy a few pounds of pork.

Iire Uates, only ese supermarkets sold pork that had been properly processed (castrated).

In his past life, he had seen videos online of iional students cooking local pork. They would spend hours seasoning it with Si peppers, star anise, ginger, and garlily to throw the whole pot away afterward.

At the time, he thought it was an exaggeration.

But after transmigrating to this world, he finally uood the students' pain.

Even after eighteen years in this world, he still couldn't stand the taste of unprocessed local pork.

Peter returned home carrying a few pounds of pork, some beef, and a small box of butter cookies.

  Aunt May hurried over.

"Peter, where did you go? It's not safe outside right now."

Uncle Ben, sitting on the couch, chimed in.

"A young man his age 't just stay cooped up at home."

"Oh my, Peter, why did you buy so much stuff?"

"Where did you get the money?"

For the Parker family, Uncle Ben and Aunt May's saries barely covered the me and basic living expenses.

Uncle Ben sometimes drove a cab in his spare time to make ends meet.

Otherwise, in the inal storyline, Aunt May wouldn't have had to sell furniture to survive after Uncle Ben's death.

Seeing the food ier's hands, Uncle Ben's mind raced with worrisome thoughts.

Young people these days were more open and less disciplined pared to his geion.

He was deeply afraid Peter might go down the wrong path.

  "Peter, you…"

Peter had already prepared an expnation.

"I earhis money fixing cars. I've been doing part-time work at a German car pany. The boss is wealthy and generous."

Hearing this, both of them breathed a sigh of relief.

They had watched Peter grow up and knew him well. Although Uncle Ben had his doubts, he still trusted Peter.

  Peter quickly ged the subject.

"Aunt May, you said it's dangerous outside. Did something else happen?"

Uncle Ben nodded and poi the TV.

  "It's beied right now."

The TV was broadcasting a news segment from the Daily Bugle.

The female anchor was suctly reting the events of the previous night.

"On the evening of September 13th, a severe home invasion occurred at 5037 White Thorn Street in New York City. The victim died on the spot. A woman engaged in illegal work was the first to arrive at the se. The time of the i has been firmed."

"The NYPD is w tirelessly to solve the case."

"During the same time frame, two other is occurred in New York City. Three young men on White Thorn Street were also shot."

"When the police attempted to review surveilnce footage, they discovered the system had been hacked. The only avaible footage came from a camera outside a pizza shop, which captured a photo of the suspect."

A photo appeared on the s.

It -down angle of a man in a trench coat and fedora, but his face wasn't visible.

"What has our city e to?"

  Peter sighed and said,

"But the suspect does have good fashion sense."

  Uncle Ben nodded.

"True, his style is impeccable. I think I might have a coat like that."

Little did he know, Peter had worn his coat the previous night.

  The TV anchor tinued,

"Another i occurred simultaneously on Champs Avehe Bank of America was robbed by a man in a Rhino Armor."

"Spider-Woman was also spotted at the se."

At the end of the news segment, a man who looked to be in his fifties appeared on s. The caption below identified him as J. Jonah Jameson, founder aor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle.

Dressed in a suit and sp a mustache, Jameson angrily shouted,

"These masked freaks in New York are all criminals, including that masked Spider-Woman!"

  "You're the scum of society!"

  "You're…"

  Peter ged the el.

No matter whiiverse it was, J. Jonah Jameson was always Spider-Maernal hater.

Did he get bitten by a spider as a child? Or did he have some kind of phobia of spiders?

His attitude always seemed way too extreme.

Just then, the system's notification sounded.

  [Ding, new mission.]

  [Punish the Rhino.]

[A brute with low intelligence, who used his massive armor to leave a deep wound on yirl's back. Such a guy deserves to be punished by a vilinous superhero!]
