Chapter 4: Fight
Emperor Jircniv of the Baharuth Empire sat in the VIP area of the Colosseum. The man himself had been rather stressed about the current meeting and was having the time of his life just watching the fights go by.
He sat in the front of the VIP area, with his guards, the imperial knights and the adventurer group silver thread, behind him. The locks on the door had been knocked off so that in case of an emergency, his guards could come rushing in to aid him.
The room was cozy, for ck of a better word. After all, he sat in this room often, and it had started to feel well lived in a while ago. The walls were pstered with, well pster, that had been painted white.
There was a group of chairs facing the open balcony and a group of sofas in the middle of the room facing each other. The balcony was open for the express reason of the emperor showing his face in the case of an emperor’s visit. Jircniv, the current emperor, often used it.
The light above his head in the ceiling of the room was magic, as it glowed a nice and warm orange-white. He looked around the room after a battle between two rather weak, yet entertaining combatants, this was a good day. At least, that was what he thought for now.
Soon, the emissaries from the theocracy would show and he could talk politics with them. The politics they would speak of would be the business around building up a secret group, or rather alliance, for fighting back against the rule of Ainz Ooal Gown.
…
As Ninya walked along the halls to the VIP area to where they had been directed by the staff, she couldn’t help but feel a bit out of her depth. Yeah sure, she had been trained to be the best nanny and maid that she could be for the children of Ainz Ooal Gown, yet she didn’t really feel like she was in the right pce.
With that feeling not really vanishing even after going to a more human centric pce, like the empire, she had just kind of been absorbed into her job. The of course, she had a lot more things going on in her life than her job.
Her magic was one thing, the little short stories that she and her sister had taken to also absorbed her time as well. Thinking back to those somewhat flirtatious stories that her sister and she herself had written right now made her cheeks redden slightly.
This caused the children that she was bringing along to look at her with slightly confused looks on their faces. She simply looked ahead, ignoring their questioning looks. Tanya, in particur, seemed more knowing than the others.
This awkward silence, save for the noise of their footsteps, was only broken when they made their way to the door of the VIP area. Ninya spotted the Adamantite ranked adventurers standing guard near the door. At the same time, they spotted her and the leader, a bard by the name of Freivalds, spotted her and Lord Ainz’s children and made for them to stop. She did so as she neared, and he introduced himself.
“Hello there ma’am, I am Freivalds. The leader of the adventuring party silver thread, and current guard of the Emperor of the Baharuth empire, Jircniv Rune Farlord El Nix,” he said and paused, looking her up and down then moving on to the children that were holding her many hands, “I ask who you be and what your business is with the emperor?” he asked.
Ninya looked at the man in silence for a couple of seconds, before introducing herself and her charges. The three children were all looking at the man’s party now, soaking in all the details.
“I am Ninya the living doll,” she said and then gestured the children holding her many arms, “These children are the princesses of the sorcerer kingdom of Ainz Ooal Gown,” she spoke then gestured to the first girl holding her lest most hand, “This is dy Tanya, first born daughter of his majesty,” she said, then gestured to Wictoria on Tanya’s right, “Then this one right next to her is dy Wictoria third born daughter of His majesty,” she said then finally motioned to Erika, “The st is Erika Ooal Gown, heir to the sorcerer kingdom.”
This procmation caused the eyes of all hearing it to open wide. The adventurers of silver thread looked at each other and motioned for Ninya and her charges to move forward into the room. Yet, not before Freivalds opened the door a smidge and announced to the Emperor that he had guests.
“Yes, let them in quickly,” the man on the other side said as the announcer announce the next matchup, his voice being heard over the cheers of all the people in the stands.
As they entered, they heard it in full force, and Ninya spotted another group just as they entered the room. they appeared to be priests and people of religious significance. Who they were, Ninya didn’t actually know as she had only been trained with the empire and the kingdom in mind for now, even after a year of serving as nanny for these children.
“He’s the man you’ve all heard of! Give it up for Ainz Ooal Gown!” the announcer shouted at the top of his well-used lungs and the crowds turned dead silent.
…
Jircniv turned to the group coming in, and hid a frown with a smile. No, it wasn’t really what one could call a smile. In fact, he was more confused on why they were here than anything else.
Of course, he had heard of the children of Ainz Ooal Gown from Leinas before she absolved herself of her imperial knight status and moved to the bastion city of Carne. He was still salty about that, but it couldn’t be helped. The purpose of their contract had been resolved and she was a citizen of the Sorcerer Kingdom now.
Though, he had never met these children. They were supposedly rather human looking and rather smart for their age. Of their smarts had all the confidence in the world to believe that. Of the humanoid looking info, he wasn’t so sure. Yet now, he was sure of it. The children that were holding onto the hands of the woman who he could only assume was their nanny, Ninya the living doll, were in fact humanoid in looks.
“Greetings, oh Emperor Jircniv Rune Farlord El Nix,” Ninya curtsied, “I am Ninya the living doll, current caretaker and nanny to the three princesses of Ainz Ooal Gown,” she said and gestured to introduce them.
After she did so, which took but a couple of seconds, he told them to take a seat. Then, after he himself took his usual seat near them whenever he had to talk to people in the VIP area, he heard a voice come from the balcony.
“Ah, Jircniv Rune Farlord El Nix. It has been a while, hasn’t it?” spoke the undead king who’s power and actions kept repying in his head, “Keeping my children safe I hope? Sorry for the sudden intrusion, but I thought it would be a nice surprise to visit you like this,” he said and paused, “My daughters also wish to see the great Colosseum for themselves,” he finally said.
He turned around and felt sweat slicking his back and brows. He was nervous and slightly panicking on the inside. The undead king surely knew that.
“Ah yes, your children are in good hands after all. This is the safest pce in all the Colosseum!” he announced with a rather loud procmation, and Ainz nodded his head.
“Well, I hope you enjoy the show Jircniv. After all, my kids are watching; and I can’t look bad in front of them,” he said jokingly, which to Jircniv, just came off as sinister.
Then even worse news came.
“My lord, yet another group has come to meet with you,” spoke Freivalds, and Jircniv sighed in exasperation.
