Chapter 5: Five Years of Age, part two (100)

  …

Wictoria looked around the room. It was a cssroom, yet it only had three chairs. One for her, one for Erika, and finally one for Tanya. Two of the three chairs were taken, with the st that belonged to Tanya empty.

There, in front of the cssroom was her mother, Aeskell Ooal Gown. The queen of the sorcerer kingdom was wearing what seemed to be a rather professional teachers’ uniform. Though, she herself hadn’t known it was a uniform of any type until Tanya had told her.

Another person was in the room. Yuri Alpha stood at attention. Her hands pced before her in a gentle manner. The woman herself was watching with a kind gaze, as kind as her own mother’s if she had to guess.

Her mother was currently teaching the both of them about the rather brief history of this nd. The map that she currently had on the whiteboard was a copy of a map that her father had, “liberated,” from a library in the empire.

“Now, as you see children, the people during this time period weren’t all the much less or more advanced in the sciences than we are today. Though, the kingdom of Invern was rather advanced in the study of magic. The st king apparently being able to use magic of the fourth tier,” her mother expined.

Wictoria looked at the board. Her mind was fluttering with thoughts. She simply didn’t know what was going on. The complete and utter history of this nd was only 800 years old.

Sure, it was natural that a child of her age would only learn of small and selective bits of the past. Yet, this was the total of record history in this world. This simple fact made her frown. She raised her hand to ask her question. It was a simple one, after all.

“Mom? She asked, and her mother pointed to her.

“Yes sweetie-pie?” she asked in return, “what is it?”

“Why is the recorded history of the world…” she paused so as to better word her sentence, “short when you look at the rest of the world’s age?”

Her mother beamed at that. The smile coming from her face was so blinding in its happiness that it might be able to blind the sun itself. She soon schooled her expression though.

Yuri though, she seemed happy that the girl was asking such big questions as well. She didn’t, or rather couldn’t school her emotions until her emotional suppression kicked in.

“It makes me so happy to know that you are asking such big questions. You see, the only reason that the recorded history of this world and its civilizations is so short, is because it wasn’t really recorded beforehand,” she said pinly.

This got a questioning, and an adorable, head tilt from her sister Erika. The young girl hadn’t truly come to terms with her new position. Yet right now, she was fine with it.

“Mother, if you don’t mind me asking, what was the civilization that was here before the current one?” she asked, and Aeskell smiled once more.

“You see little ones, over the full eight hundred years of recorded history ago, there was a people simply known as the dragon lords…” she started to expin, and the lecture faded into the day.

  …

Tanya sat on her father’s p. The day had drifted off, and her lessons had started to dive head first into the basics and early tiers of magic. The lessons themselves seemed less like the teachings of a schor, and more of a master of a trade.

The man that was teaching her, her father, the most powerful man on the continent, was ughing giddily. She had just asked a question on the different power levels of magic, and if she could buff them past their normal point.

This was his response. It was long and winded, yet full of information. His tone of utter happiness spoke volumes to her. To this effect, she became happy as well.

“That is a great question my child,” he said while booping her nose, “you can in fact do so. Yet it takes great skill,” he expined to her.

She tilted her head to look at his skeletal features. She had gotten used to time a while ago, and it had been a while since she had started to think of him as her father.

“If you are wondering why that is, it is simply because the of the structure, and power that the spell can reach. Some magic was never meant to be maximized, as that is what it is called to make a spell greater than itself. As such, it takes great skill to manually channel the power and mana it the correct channel and directions,” he said, actually using the lore that he had read as a base for his lecture.

After all, it was his best friend that had written those fan-made lore books. It would be a disservice to not read them. His daughter, meanwhile, was absorbing this information like a sponge. Her mind taking in all the info she could.

This continued on into the rest of the day. The legendary overlord continued his lecture and speech of the arts and study of magic for hours, his daughter soaking in the knowledge.

“Now, today’s lesson is over. Tomorrow's lesson will be a recap on all of this and a discussion on what spell you would like to try and learn first,” he said, and Tanya’s eyes widened.

She began to squirm. Her legs rubbing against each other, barely held back in excitement. Her ponytail began to swing back and forth like the tail of a cat. Her golden eyes glowed for but a second. She was excited for sure.

“Are you sure I am ready for that, father?” she asked, and her father, Ainz Ooal Gown, nodded.

“Yes, magic is best learned by doing. At least, that was what I learned as a magical being,” he partially lied, “A human would have to study and memorize more than what you have to, to get the same results,” he expined and grabbed her so as to set her down, “now, go and get some sleep.”

As she was set on the ground, she stood up straight and saluted in a mockery of a salute. She didn’t even care about proper form right now. She was simply interested in learning about magic.

As she walked out of the room, she looked back with a devilish smile upon her faced that reminded Ainz of Albedo, and spoke. Her voice was genuine. Her eyes glittered in their golden way.

“Thanks dad!” she said and briskly walked out the door.
