Chapter 157: How Could a Tempr Knight's As Be Called Robbery?
Although he was mentally prepared, Alex only truly realized in the heat of battle with the Predator warriors that a mage could indeed be invincible.
This recisely why he was currently standing at the passage entrance, holding the line single-handedly like a one-man army.
After Ikaros had disabled all ranged ons, the Predators were forced to rely on melee bat. Alex, however, went a step further—he even stowed away his Skycutter Sword. Standing there empty-handed with a mischievous grin, he calmly faced the enemies before him.
The corridors of the Predator mothership were spacious enough for four warriors to advance side by side. Yet Alex, standing alo the doorway, was enough to halt their advairely.
"Hah!!"
One Predator elite lunged forward, thrusting a spear toward Alex with all his might. Alex, however, didn’t even flinch. He stood silently, watg the glinting spearhead aim for his chest. Then—apanied by a cascade of sparks—the sharp spear collided with an invisible force field before him and rebounded.
The sight left the Predator warrior astonished. Switg through various sing modes, he tried to dis what invisible barrier blocked his attack. But Alex clearly had no iion of expining. Instead, he snapped his fingers. A thick, dark green mist silently rolled out in front of him, f a dense cloud that filled the corridor. The Predators caught within the cloud barely had time to react before their faces turned pale, and they colpsed into lifeless corpses. Only a few with exceptional physical resilience mao resist the lethal mist, but even they became stiff and sluggish, uo move freely as before.
The death of their rades didn’t deter the Predators. They fearlessly charged into the green mist, rushing toward Alex. Although some colpsed halfway, the remaining warriors, driven by their unyielding spirit and wild strength, pushed through the barrier of death mist and lu Alex.
Watg the ining warriors, Alex didn’t even bother to raise an eyebrow. Extending a finger, he pointed lightly. With a fsh of light, arcs of electricity leapt forth, striking the first warrior and quickly spreading to the others, toppling most of them in an instant.
It seemed their armardless of its material, wasn’t insuted agairicity.
“Swish, swish, swish!!”
As the lightning subsided, Alex noticed several spears cutting through the air toward him. These were different from the previous oheir translut forms shimmered with a special energy. Uheir impact, the force field wall in front of Alex flickered before shatteriirely.
Sensing an opportunity, the Predators immediately unched sharp, spinning discs that sliced through the green mist toward Alex.
Yet Alex remained rooted to the spot, watg as the flying diseared. Suddenly, the space around him shimmered with light. The discs trembled mid-air before reversing their trajectory, flying back the way they came. Moments ter, faint roars echoed from the other side of the mist, followed by silence.
Mages truly live as they please!
Alex finally uood why spellcasters ofteheir heads high with an air of superiority. The sheer thrill of overp mortals was intoxig. Standing here, Alex barely had to lift a fio annihite over a hundred Predators. He aplished this with just four spells, augmented by his “Future Sight” ability.
The force field wall ralized their physical attacks.
The death mist blocked the path while dealing area damage.
Lightning spells added elemental punishment.
Lastly, the arrow reversal spell sent their ratacks back at them.
In this battle, Alex stood as the epitome of the mage's overwhelming power.
With just two Level 5 spells and two Level 3 spells, Alex had pletely routed a group of fully armed Predator warriors, leaving them scattered and in disarray. Of course, this was also due to the support of Alex’s “Future Sight.” This ability allowed Alex to determine in advance whether his spells could blo enemy’s attack or if they would be overpowered. It recisely because of this fht that Alex stood there so calmly and unmoving.
In the face of a divination mage, there are s. Everything you do is simply a firmed part of the past.
“Holy, getting Ikaros back then was truly a stroke of luck.”
Alex was being increasingly grateful for Ikaros. Before being a mage, he didn’t have muderstanding of what being oailed. It wasn’t until he became a mage himself that he realized how much he owed Ikaros. When he had defeated that fool in the past, it was rgely thanks to Ikaros. If she hadn’t hacked into the oppo’s magid ralized it, Alex might have ended up fleeing in humiliation.
Now, in this world, Alex once again had Ikaros to thank. It was her help that allowed him to roam freely aboard the Predator mothership as if it were his own home. This made Alex value Ikaros even more. Initially, he thought a silver-tier summoning stone wouldn’t offer much, but now it seemed Ikaros would bee one of his indispensable allies.
“System rewrite plete, Master.”
At that moment, Alex heard the familiar voice of the little angel behind him. He turned around to see Ikaros staring up at him with her wide eyes.
“Shall we begin the operation now?”
“Let’s get started... I’ll have Runa recall the swarm.”
Hearing Ikaros’s report, Alex smiled, reag out to pat her head.
“Thank you, Ikaros.”
“o thank me, Master. It’s my duty.”
Receiving Alex’s praise, Ikaros smiled brightly. Since Alex had established a perma psychik with her, her previously gloomy demeanor had signifitly improved. Although she still occasionally stared at her broken s in a daze, she no longer sank into despair as she had before.
“But... Master, taking their things like this—is it really okay?”
“This isn’t taking, Ikaros. I’m a Tempr Knight. How could a Tempr Knight’s as be called robbery? If you say that, you’re treating me like some bandit or thief. Remember, they are our ehis is a war, and this warship will be my spoils of war, cimed in the name of my knightly duty. Uood?”
“Uood, Master.”
Hearing Alex’s response, Ikaros giggled, blinking mischievously while gently petting the kitten in her arms. Since Alex had put her in charge of the rear operations, Ikaros spent most of her time either assisting him or cuddling her cat.
Truly, with a person and a cat w together, even tough jobs felt easy.
“All right, let’s begin the operation.”
Alex turned back toward the corridor behind him, now littered with corpses. Of course, through his mental link with the Hive and Ikaros’s report, Alex khat many Predators aboard the mothership were still attempting to mount a terattack. Alex, however, had no iion of dealing with them one by one—especially since Ikaros had provided him with a much better pn.
“g!”
As the st alien from the swarm returo the aer, the heavy metal doors sealed shut. Alex gnced ahead, where an endless expanse of spad the blue ph y in view. Under Ikaros’s trol, the Predator mothership had already left Earth aered the depths of space.
Speaking of which, Alex wondered how those protagonists and the remaining Predators were faring back at the pyramid…
Shrugging off the thought, Alex gave his order.
“Do it.”
