Chapter 158: How Could System As Be Called Taking?
This redator mothership, so naturally, it was teeming with Predator warriors—around seven ht hundred in total. While Alex could potentially elimihem all, it would take far too long and pose signifit risks. There was also the that, much like on the hunting phey might resort to a manual self-destruct meism. Don’t be fooled by the size of a spaceship; destroying the engine or power core would be enough to disma entirely.
Alex had no iion of recreating the third act of some sci-fi movie on this ship. After bringing Ikaros aboard the mothership and having her rewrite the operating system, he opted for a simpler approach: seal the trol ter ahe atmosphere.
That’s right, it was as straightforward as it sounds. Alex vented all the air on the ship except for the trol ter, leaving the rest of the ship in a vacuum. He didn’t eveo lift a finger afterward. All he had to do was hum a little tune while watg the life signals represented by dots on his s blink out one by ohat’s the beauty of a spell like Life Dete—a divination mage’s shameless trump card. Like it or not, divination magic lets you do as you please.
Predators may have advaeology, but they still o breathe. Their masks could help them adapt to different enviros, but they couldn’t create air out of nothing. After an hour of waiting, during which Alex firmed that no life signs remained outside the trol ter, he instructed Ikaros to reseal the mothership. He thehe aliens to locate Predator corpses and incubate small xenomorphs within them before calling it a day.
Oh, and of course, Alex didn’t fet to check how the situation back at the Earth’s pyramid had unfolded.
Well… not great, to be ho.
The old man’s eborate pn fell apart pletely. her the Predators nor the xenomorphs adhered to his script. The exploration team arasitized by facehuggers, produg a swarm of xenomorphs. The st two Predators couldn’t hold their ground and triggered a self-destruct sequence, burying the entire underground area. The protagonists who failed to escape? Naturally, they perished alongside them.
Si was a total wipeout, Alex decided there was o fire the Predator mothership’s main on at Earth. Once he firmed that all xenomorphs had been obliterated in the explosion, he dusted off his hands aed.
Mission aplished!
Sitting fortably on the bridge of the Predator mothership, gazing at the endless sea of stars, Alex couldn’t help but feel a surge of grandeur. He eve like posing a poem to express his emotions. Speaking of which, could he take this mothership back to his inal world? If he could, then being an ielr explht not be a bad idea. With the prote of the zerg and the firepower of a Predator warship, there wouldn’t be a er of the universe he couldn’t reach. Why waste time iiny fines of his homeworld? Then again, he wasn’t sure if the stars in his inal world were the same as he khem here. But they probably wouldn’t be too different, right?
Well, whatever. Before thinking too hard about it, let’s start with a poem…
“Ding.”
Before Alex could finish his poetic musings, a system notification sound suddenly rang in his ear, and a message popped up before him.
[Bonus Mission: Grand Opening Promotion]
[Our journey is to the stars and the sea; our steps traverse every world. Every dimensional mage deserves a noble, elegant, and luxurious vehicle. Remember: fancy cars aiful womehe true pursuits of life. Only the strong are worthy of luxury rides, while cowards cry in rusty buckets. – Sell your current vehicle to unlock the 'Vehicle' category in the Dimensional Store and receive a 'Vehicle' gift pack. (Note: pletion of this mission will impact the overall quest mission’s progress.)]
“...”
Alex silently stared at the system prompt, falling into deep ption.
This damn system… have you gotten addicted to messing with me?
Leaving aside the sone of the mission description, that the end… are you seriously f me to hand it over?
Alex stared at the task before him, utterly speechless. Was this some kind of joke? He had worked so hard for this Predator mothership—traveling all the way from Char to Earth, enduring the freezing wastend of Antarctica, and struggling through tless trials to cim it. Now, just as he finally got his hands on it, this annoying system popped up, demanding attention.
Seriously, when he wrote the inal code, he didn’t remember it being this absurd.
And threatening him with reduced mission pletion if he didn’t ply?
“I don’t need your expnation! I won’t listen! I won’t listen! I already know what you mean, so save your breath!”
Cursing the system internally, Alex sighed in resignation.
What choice did he have? He was utterly exasperated. Refuse the system? Was that even an option?
Fine. For now, all he could do was hope for something worthwhile from the trade. But before handing it over... he was going to squeeze every st bit of utility out of this mothership!
Accepting the mission with a belly full of frustration, Alex didn’t immediately submit the ship. The system might py tricks, but let’s not fet—this system was his creation. Trying to show off in front of your creator? You’re a millennium too early!
Waste not, want not, after all.
Still fuming, Alex returo Char. It wasn’t a total loss, but it wasn’t a guaranteed wiher. The xenomorphs, now part of the swarm, ime to ie fully. As for the Predator mothership, Alex decided to test its firepower. Once Miruune finished her analysis, she had a verdict.
“At best, it’s only half as powerful as a Void Warship. Not a signifit threat.”
The ck of psionic shields on the Predator mothership meant its defense relied entirely on armor, making it only about one-fifth as dangerous as a Void Warship to the zerg. A single wave of self-destrug bat units could easily take it down. Hardly worth mentioning.
Even so, Alex had another idea.
He po use the mothership as bait to lure more Predators into a trap and hit them hard.
Currently, over 80% of Char was under zerg trol, and pleting the mission was only a matter of time. The zerg were itg to make their presenown in this universe, and with Leviathans, Corruptors, and self-destrug bats ready in orbit, the swarm repared for a full-scale frontation with the Predator fleet.
With everything in pce, Alex instructed Ikaros to broadcast an emergency distress signal from the mothership to the Predator homeworld. Then, he waited patiently for the prey to arrive.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long before Ikarht good news.
“Master, the Predator fleet is mobilizing on a rge scale. They’re sending a fleet to iigate Char. I’ve recorded their coordinates.”
“Leave it to Miruune. She’ll ha.”
This was the beauty of teological supremacy. For the first time, Alex truly uood why the U.S. forces had ehemselves so much after crag Japanese codes during World War II.
Everything was under trol. This wave was solid.
Still...
“Ah...”
Alex sighed, gng at the massive Predator mothership before him. Its purpose was fulfilled, and now all that was left was to hand it over to plete the task.
[Deteg a valuable item for sale. Proceed to sell?]
“Sell.”
With a resigned wave of his hand, Alex firmed the prompt. In the moment, the colossal Predator mothership before him shimmered with white light before vanishing pletely.
“Ah...”
[Mission “Grand Opening Promotion” pleted. User sold the “Predator Mothership” and received a “Vehicle Gift Pack.” User earned 2,330 Dimensional Credits. Mission “Homend” evaluation improved.]
MF!
Alex’s face darke the mention of “Dimensional Credits.” Unlike Dimensional Points or Crystal Energy, Dimensional Credits were essentially furniture tokens only found in mobile games. In other words, these credits could only be used to purchase vehicle-reted items from the Dimensional Store and nothing else.
This was a massive loss!
Who came up with such a scummy system?
Oh... right. That would be me.
MF!!
Sighing in frustration, Alex hesitated before reag out to open the “Vehicle Gift Pack” in front of him.
Now, all he could hope for was some good lud a det reward.
