Third Person POV:
Aaos, the God of Death continued watching the human, or tarnished, pave his way through countless trials and tributions. It was evident that he had been making his way towards the burning tree in the distance, and the God of Death had been observing his progress along the way.
The more the tarnished travelled, the more that the God of Death couldn't help but notice that something was off with the tarnished, He could sense elements of chaos emanating from the tarnished that he had been oblivious to previously. Aaos had been so enamored by the fight that he found himself ignoring that minuscule of a detail.
Aaos didn't know why the tarnished had elements of chaos within him, but he was curious as to see how he was going to use it.
Battle after battle, the God of Death watched calmly as the tarnish continued sying demigod after demigod. The most challenging of all demigods had to be the Scarlett-haired woman. Her swordsmanship was something that he had yet to see in his own world, not yet at least, there were countless times where the tarnished was a hair-breath's away from death. Yet, the tarnished persevered and continued keeping up his defenses by raising his guard and dodging accordingly. The battle ended in his victory, but the tarnished was going to need a bit of a break immediately after.
Soon, after a couple of days, the tarnished had finally reached the base of the burning tree. However, standing before its very trunk, a rather rge human with a long, braided white beard and white hair knelt while holding a fading figure in his arms. The bde of a rge, one sided axe rested against the ground. Moreover, on his shoulder, a glowing figure of a scarred lion rested; roaring upon noting the intrusive presence of the human.
"It has been.....a long while Morgott," the rge human said.
Aaos couldn't help but note that there was a small fraction of divinity emanating from the human. It was mostly fleeting, almost as if he had been stripped of it a long while ago, but Aaos could still sense it.
The rge human slowly stood up as he watched the figure of the fallen individual fade away into nothing before turning to face the human.
The rge human promptly introduced himself as Godfrey, the First Elden Lord, before grabbing his axe and attacking the human; initiating the start of the fight. Godfrey's attacks were as widespread as they were damaging. Aaos already knew that the human had no chance of directly taking on any attacks coming from him.
The human, in response, would wait for Godfrey to nd the attack before striking decisively at any open areas that the human found. Once again, he had decided to initiate another battle of attrition as they kept fighting for a few more hours.
Eventually, the Godfrey found himself down on one knee as he breathed heavily. The warrior he faced was also panting just as heavily, but, he remained standing tall. As tenacious as he had been when Aaos had first seen the mortal in battle. Aaos' eyes twinkled, he was pleased with the human's progress so far. Whatever his goal had been, it seemed that he was nearing its completion.
However, things wouldn't be so simple.
In a rather absurd turn of events, Godfrey ended up ripping the jaw of the lion that rested on his shoulder. He bathed in the lion's scarlet blood as he waited for the end of the lions final death throes.
Eventually, the lion eventually died and faded away into nothingness, leaving Godfrey alone; standing back up to his feet as the blood of the lion slowly began to evaporate from his body. The quantity of blood that covered the First Elden Lord practically covered his entire body. IT would take a long time for it to completely disappear.
"I have given thee, courtesy, enough," the First Elden Lord stated. He cwed his chest as he let out a deafening roar that shook the entire surroundings.
"Now I fight as Horah Loux, WARRIOR!!!" Horah Loux roared before lunging at the human.
With that, the second battle promptly began taking pce. The First Elden Lord, instead of using his axe to attack, had then started using his barehands to attack instead. smashing through bare concrete and creating massive shockwaves that immediately fttened all the rubble surrounding the area of effect.
The human had made the small mistake of waiting too long to dodge the attack. He ended up getting caught up in a shockwave and was sent flying. He ended up crashing into a wall that happened to be closeby.
However, the First Elden Lord didn't wait for him to recover.
Horah Loux reached to where the tarnished had crashed in an instant before grabbing the body of the human, and throwing it high in the air.
The human's eyes widened slightly as he noticed himself momentarily suspended in the air, only to widen further when he noticed that Horah Loux was suspended high in the sky right next to him. Before he could even move a muscle, Horah Loux grabbed him with both of his hands before flinging him right back down into the ground.
The human was partially broke the sound barrier before crashing into the ground with a rge explosion. The human let out a mouthful of blood before Horah Loux nded ft on his chest with both his knees.
This resulted in the formation of an even rger crater in comparison to what the human had just made.
Jumping out of the smoke, Horah Loux nded a bit of a distance from the crater. Grinding his teethe menacingly as he waited for his opponent to get out of the crater.
Within the smoke, Aaos could see that the human was slowly beginning to recover thanks to a fsk that he seemed to be drinking while he stayed in the ground.
Soon, he leaped out and unched himself high in the sky, his colossal bde held high above his head as he stared Horah Loux down. Aaos could see a small smile form on the lips of the First Elden Lord.
Horah Loux kicked the ground and took to the sky to meet the the quickly descending human mid-air.
Bare knuckles facing the sharp edge of a broadsword.
Unfortunately, for the First Elden Lord, he would emerge on the losing end of this battle. Eventually colpsing, but even as he colpsed, Horah Loux couldn't help but state.
"Thy strength... befits a crown."
With that, there was nothing left holding back the human from entering the burning tree. Aaos quietly followed the human and entered the base of the tree, and what he found only fed more into his curiosity.
Hanging in mid-air, the remnant skeleton of a dy remained suspended in mid-air. Her hands bounded to a curved line of golden light that slowly fractured before it fell into the abyss. Aaos turned his gaze to the human, and he could tell that the human was anticipating something.
A short second after, the ground rumbled as another figure emerged from the abyss, holding a weapon that Aaos could tell was the handle to a club or mace of sorts. The mace glowed with light as a symbolic rune shone within the body of its owner.
Another fight ensued between the human and the figure.
One thing that Aaos had noted with this new figure was that he radiated the same kind of divinity that he had seen with the First Elden Lord. As a matter of fact, nearly all the humans that Aaos had met within this world radiated the same form of divinity as the figure.
'A puppet of an ancestral God? Interesting...' The God of Death couldn't help but note as the two continued fighting. The movements of the ancestral god's puppet were smooth, almost as if the puppet was in a trance-like state.
The human had noted this and instead of waiting out for his opponent to tire out, he used an ability he hadn't used in front of Aaos before. A simple step that would allow him to move away from the puppet. He would then use the same step to appear right behind the puppet and deal as much damage as he could to the puppet.
The battle didn't take long for the human to win. Whether be due to the fact that he was quite strong in comparison to the puppet or simple reading of movement. The results were rather disappointing towards the Death God in comparison to the other fights that he had seen the human engage in.
the puppet lied on the ground in defeat for a while before Aaos noticed the rgest presence of divinity that he had noticed within his time in that world slowly began to emerge from the abyss.
A rge dark hand slowly emerged before it picked up the body of the puppet and dragged it back into the abyss with it. In turn, an even rger figure emerged from the abyss, completely changing the surroundings of the human and letting out an even louder roar as it immediately began engaging in battle with the human.
Aaos immediately noticed that this beast had been an avatar of the God of this world.
Looking at the human, Aaos couldn't help but notice that the human remained resilient and steady as he faced the beast. Something admirable to find in a warrior. After all, the being he was facing was no lesser than a God.
Unlike the st battle, this ended up sting way longer in comparison. waves of destruction would be left in the wake of wherever the bde of the beast would swipe. The human resiliently dodged and continued attacking the beast regardless of the attacks that was after him.
The beast intensified the frequencies and severities of its attacks, but it didn't stop the human from continuing his attacks on the beast; resulting in the human's victory.
The beast slowly dissolved into mist as the human fell to the ground.
All that was left was the remnant skeleton of the dy who one hung in the air.
Aaos calmly waited for the human to make his move. After all, the God of Death had yet to figure out what the end goal was for the human.
The human slowly walked up to the remains before he clutched his head in agony. This writhing and screaming could be heard throughout the base of the tree.
Finally, after a couple of more minutes writhing. He finally stopped before getting up back on his feet, but he looked different.
Aaos couldn't help but notice that the presence of the Rune of Death had started burning away due to the frenzy. He quickly gathered all its aura before suppressing it back into the rune it once was.
From above, Aaos saw the burning fmes of Frenzy and chaos slowly spread across the nd, corrupting and engulfing all who were within the nd. It was obvious as to what the human had done, and many others would know about this for ages to come.
The Age of the Frenzied fme.
