The ragged group of Scavs were skittish at every move we made. They didn’t know us, besides the fact that we just saved their lives. Beyond that, they just knew to do what we wanted, or they might die. A bit offensive, if you ask me, but I get it.
Sergio was talking with Uwu, showing him the empty metro car with lines of crates outside, “We were about to load up and get paid, until those crazy Reds got us.” He chuckled nervously as he rubbed his neck.
Uwu nodded, looking about the rge crates. They were big enough to fit in a full adult, along with our gear. Perfect for sneaking into an unsuspecting prison. “What’s your protocol for sending goods?”
Sergio scratched the bck and white fur on his neck more, looking around uncomfortably, “We load up the goods and radio the prison. Hogg Industries is in charge over there. The rest of the corpos fall in line. They close the doors and send the car down the line unmanned. They send it back with the cash or other supplies we need. It’s as easy as that.”
Noodle stepped closer looking into the crate full of food and medical supplies, “Pfft, bowing down to some corpo scum while people are starving out there, eating each other. Easy as that, huh?” She gnced at the Anthro-Badger with a wicked gre.
Uwu stepped between them, “We’ll need you to radio in the situation here. Tell them that some crazies attacked and are dead, but you suffered casualties. The supplies are still ready to be sent. Then send us down the line. After that, I urge you to get to some shelters, or take your hard work to the Meowtws. Staying out here will get you eaten alive.” Uwu smirked at the Anthro-Badger.
Echo zipped through on our coms line, “Speaking of Reds. There’s a small army approaching us, Captain.”
I turned and ran up the steps to the metro station entrance. Echo was perched in the dark, looking out a hundred or so ragged people dressed in red, holding all sorts of weaponry from rifles to makeshift spears.
I pressed my coms as I took up next to Echo, leaning in to him for cover, “Best get those crates loaded up now, Captain, we better get going before we end up as dinner.”
“Keep them busy. Loading up now.” Uwu buzzed in my ear, “Noodle and Ash are taking up at the entrance to the ptform. If you need to fall back, radio in so Ash doesn’t turn you into a pile of goop.”
I gnced over at Echo and chuckled nervously, but his stone-cold gaze was a bitter reminder that it was a very possible outcome. The Anthro-Bunny is quite new to all of this.
“Roger that.” I ended the call and pulled out my pistols, nudging Echo in the ribs, “What’s the py here?”
Echo’s ears twitched about, his gaze fixed on the Reds coming over the rubble and scoping out their dead comrades, “I say we light them up with one good explosive round…” He whipped his grenade uncher up from under his bck cloak, “Then throw this bad boy.” His free hand handed me a red colored grenade.
Incendiary was etched into the side. “You’re sick.” Just the thought of them burning up with this shit was bad enough, but they wouldn’t stop to think the same about us. “Ready when you are.”
Echo stepped out into the light. He pulled his trigger, aiming right at the middle of the group. BOOM! The explosion shook the dust off the rafters around us. The Reds dover for cover, or ran for their lives as morale broke swiftly.
I pulled the pin on the grenade and tossed it directly at the remaining group. It burst into a p of fme as napalm mixture bsted out across the group. They took to fme like petrol, igniting in an instant. They ran around, diving into the small snowbanks here or there, but the fme never let out.
Several shots pstered around us, chipping away at the metro lobby. Some spears cttered around. I sprayed a volley of my pistols, both guns bsting away at full auto. The host of Reds scattered and took to cover, only the bravest remained. Echo took a few shots out of cover from my right.
“We’re ready, get your asses down here!” Uwu urged us over the coms.
I reloaded and nodded to Echo. He stepped out and put down cover fire as we stepped back into the metro line, running down the stairs at full speed.
“Don’t kill us, Ash!” I shouted for extra measure as we turned the final corner into the metro line. Uwu was half in a box, Ash and Noodle running for an empty crate. We joined them as Sergio was talking over a vid box nearby.
We loaded in the crates, but the Scavs were making way towards the car as well. Sergio was urging them in as the first of the Reds came creeping around the corner. I bsted away at the entrance, sparks lighting up my face, spraying down until my guns clicked empty.
The doors on the metro line closed and we were sitting in with the Scavs. I looked around, wondering what was going to happen to them once they got to the prison. We ducked as bullets pattered the car as it slowly began to zip away from the line.
We began to close ourselves in the crates, looking out at the scavs, I was worried at what was going to happen. If they sold us out, it’d be a short mission after all. The car zipped away down the line picking up speed. I guess we would fine out soon enough.
