It seems that some of my abilities are affected by the conditions of the environment I'm in, as happened with [Camoufge]. The same happened with my [Ultraviolet Vision]: it's only effective at night or in dark pces. When I tried to use it during the day, all I saw was an intense fsh, as if I were blind. Needless to say, my eye hurt drastically at first, but I recovered quickly thanks to my [Adaptive Healing].

Speaking of which, I noticed a subtle change in this ability. During the day, its color changed, taking on a shade closer to violet. Fortunately, this change seems to be cosmetic only; its effectiveness remains the same. If there has been any reduction in its potential, I haven't noticed it yet. The curious thing is that the ability now looks even prettier, as if it had a more attractive glow.

I also believe I have developed a kind of temporary color blindness in dark environments, which may be a side effect of the continuous use of [Ultraviolet Vision]. Of course, I couldn't test the same with my [Dark Fmes] or [Abyssal Corrosion] - after all, I don't want to cause unnecessary havoc in the forest.

Another subtle change was in the shade of my scales, which now look a little more grayish. My whole body seems to have adjusted to a new coloring, but fortunately my hair hasn't changed at all. My tail, on the other hand, is still as long as before, dragging along the ground.

Having a tail isn't something that hinders me, at least not as much as I imagined. It's instinctive, like breathing - it moves on its own unless I consciously try to control it. At first, I tripped over it a few times in the cave, but now I'm adapting better.

As for the rest of my skills, everything seems normal. [Silk Threads] and [Electrified Webs] haven't shown any visible changes. I believe that my [Void Breath] remains unchanged, but I have no intention of testing it in the middle of the forest. My scales are still strengthened by the defense skill, so I don't need to worry about that for now.

My [Razor Cws] and [Body Thorns] remain effective surprise elements in the event of a sudden attack. As they are retractable, I can use them as needed. As for [Acid Spit]... that's one I'd rather avoid.

As useful as it is, this skill has its drawbacks. Because it's a bodily fluid, I can't control its quantity unless I force myself to stop producing it. What's more, even though it's not exactly a regurgitation process, the sensation is just as unpleasant. The taste, then... just thinking about it sends a shiver down my spine. To make matters worse, if used incorrectly, [Acid Spit] can be even more dangerous than [Abyssal Corrosion]. Perhaps it's best to discard it for the time being or save it for emergencies.

Despite all this analysis, I realized that I was focusing too much on my powers and too little on my surroundings.

As I left the densest part of the forest, I came across a beautiful clearing. The surrounding scenery was sublime. Barefoot, I felt the soft grass under my feet, like a natural carpet. During my previous life in the city, I rarely ventured into the countryside - I always found it unattractive, especially because of the ck of technology and decent toilets. But now, in this world, I realize how invigorating the experience is.

The grass was damp, perhaps due to recent rain or the proximity of a river. The air was also incredibly clean, something that contrasted with my old life in the city. My sense of smell seems sharper, perhaps due to Syphus' influence. I can clearly distinguish the smell of the leaves and bushes around me. Here, human presence is minimal... or perhaps non-existent.

Even in this peaceful environment, I can't let my guard down.

After all, most of my powers involve corrosion. Using them carelessly could cause an environmental disaster. Perhaps I should develop a method of making them temporary, like a fire that goes out when there is no more wood to burn. But that will require more time and a suitable pce to experiment. Until then, I'll have to rely on other newly acquired skills.

For defense, my [Reinforced Scales] are still present, and the [Body Thorns] can reinforce my rear. For an attack, I can use the [Razor Cws] or trap an enemy with the [Silk Threads] and [Electrified Webs]. These abilities would not damage the forest, although I don't know if the webs dissolve naturally or remain in pce until they are removed.

If I need to escape, my [Camoufge] will be an excellent option for creating a distraction.

As for [Vacuum Blow] and [Acid Spit]... they're completely out of the question.

The vacuum wave has a remarkably destructive impact, as well as being too noisy for such a quiet pce. I need to train more to reduce its area of effect before I think about using it.

And the acid... well, that one needs no expnation.

  Gruunh.

I can hear something around me... It doesn't sound like a hostile presence, at least not to me, but the grunt is unmistakable.

Without hesitation, I activate my [Camoufge] to avoid any unwanted attention.

  Gruunh.

I seem to be heading in the direction of the sound. Now that I can hear it better, it resembles that of a pig... No, we're in a forest. It must be a wild boar.

I advanced cautiously, sneaking between the trees. Shortly afterwards, I spotted it. The sensible thing would have been to move away to avoid any trouble, but after what I'd been through in that cave, I'd learned not to underestimate the creatures in this pce. He may have a keen sense of perception or some other heightened sense. I want to be sure before I make any decisions.

I moved a little closer, hiding behind some bushes. Now I can see him clearly. He's banging his head against a tree... Is it trying to knock over some fruit?

Maybe it's just looking for food. But would ordinary fruit be enough for a wild boar of this size? I've always known that wild pigs can be big, but this one goes beyond any normal notion. I'd better get away while I still have the chance.

  Foosh!

  - Get away from us!

  What?

A small fireball fell to the ground right in front of the boar. He even stepped back for a moment.

  Is someone attacking it?

The voice sounds young - a child or a teenager? Could it be other humans? I can't tell...

  Gruunh! Gruuh!

Whoever it was, the attack didn't work. On the contrary, it only enraged him. The boar is hesitating, but at any moment it could strike a fatal blow.

My eyesight isn't great at this distance, but...

I should just ignore it. That's not my problem.

Or so I thought at first. If they were adults, they could handle it. But if they're children... Even if I had nothing to do with it, it would be wrong to just walk away.

  Get involved or ignore it?

  Gruuuh!

  - Yaah!

  KICK! PLAF!

I had to run a bit, but my camoufge proved useful at that moment.
