????? POV:
With his hand still grabbing my hair, he dragged me out of the room we were in, along the hallways and down the stairs. He never gave me an opportunity to stand up, so body kept smashing along the edges of the stairs until he finally dragged me out of what I finally identified as a hotel.
My senses were overloaded as I took in the new environment that was outside the room. The new scents, voices, sounds and even scenes were all hitting my head harder than Godfrey's attacks. It took me a while to get accustomed to the new change of scenery, but it was then that the boy suddenly stopped walking and released my hair.
"It just hit me that you have two feet. Use them," the boy growled as he began walking away.
I staggered to my feet and immediately started following him. I didn't know much of the new world I was in, this boy was going to be my ticket in getting to learn more about it; at least enough for me to survive properly without getting into trouble with the unknown.
The town itself was rather lively, I could hear the sound of children pying and mother's either bantering about something or chiding their children for messing with things. The men were hard at their respective jobs of selling merchandise, forging armor or simply purchasing products from other vendors. A far cry from the environment within the Lands Between, although there were people who lived and walked within the nd. They cked the liveliness that the townspeople here had, it was no thanks to the Shattering; but that was in the past.
'The best thing I can do is to keep moving forward.'
Eventually, we reached the walls that protected the town. Standing at the entrance, a soldier with a strong composition stood tall in our path.
"Where are you two heading?" The soldier remarked.
"We're heading out to hunt a couple of monster kin according to this job request. The boy handed a piece of paper to the soldier, who read it and nodded approvingly before asking for identification.
"Identification?" The soldier asked.
"Why do I need to show my identification if I'm leaving the town?" The boy asked slightly annoyed.
"The Lord has ordered it," the soldier replied dutifully.
The boy shrugged before handing him his identification. The soldier's eyes scanned it for a few seconds before handing it back to the boy.
"And you?" The soldier asked as he id his eyes on him.
"He has no identity; he's a sve," the boy replied.
"Even sves are required to have some form of identification," the soldier replied unflinchingly.
"I just bought him earlier on today. I haven't had the time to register him in the city hall," the boy argued.
"Then that should have been the first thing you did instead of trying to leave the city," the soldier responded stubbornly.
At this point, I could tell the boy was beginning to lose his temper. A vein popped along his forehead as he gritted his teeth lightly.
"This bi- you already know who I am, why are you being so difficult to deal with?!!" The boy asked angrily.
"I am merely following the Lord's orders," the soldier replied patiently.
Seeing that the soldier wasn't going to budge, the boy turned his heels around and walked back into the city, I followed him close by to avoid whatever ire he had stored within his heart.
"Low-lives like him deserve to be groveling at our feet! I don't understand why father wouldn't let me expose my identity! We're normally treated like royalty!!" The boy growled in frustration.
We kept walking for a little bit longer before stopping in a rge building that stood tall in the middle of the town. The brick walls and carefully crafted tiles indicated that it was a building that belonged to the town.
Without hesitation, he immediately opened the door and walked into the building. It was full of people from different walks of life, I even saw a couple of beast men like myself walking around freely. Many of them were rexing on tables enjoying their foods and drinks. While others were hovering near a notice board of sorts staring at it with deep concentration. The boy went to the area where a bunch of rather attractive individuals were standing patiently behind a bar.
The boy headed for a woman with blonde hair, green eyes, and rather long ears. She wore gsses and greeted the boy with a rather professional smile.
"Hello again, how may I help you?" The dy asked politely.
"Hi again, I'm trying to get my sve registered with the city? Apparently I can't leave the city with him without doing so," the boy replied.
"That is true. There's been a recent string of multiple kidnappings that have been happening across the dynasty. Duke Hawkhall personally has initialized an investigation into the matter. As a form of precaution, he has ordered all cities to record the names of everyone who enters and leaves town. Anyone who can't be found in the database in at least a month will have their names fgged and considered as one of the kidnapped," the dy expined calmly.
The boy nodded and handed over a handful of silver coins.
"Just get my sve an ID, it'll get annoying if this is what I'll have to go through whenever I go to a town," the boy responded.
"Absolutely!" The dy remarked happily, "may I have the name of the sve?"
The boy pondered thoughtfully before turning to look at me.
"What's your name? I forgot it when I took you from those traders," the boy asked.
My mind froze as I returned my gaze at the boy.
"Well?! What's your name? Do you not have one?" The boy snapped.
"My name.....is Ryad," I replied.
I had a name back in the nds between, but I doubted that name would fly in this world. So I just made one up.
I'm lying.
I saw it on a wanted poster as we walked into the building.
'Wait, read?'
it appeared that the literature of this world was bore a resembnce to the literature within the nds between, or rather, I could successfully read the nguage of this world without having to go to the hassle of learning how to read.
"Ryad? That's not a common name for a beast man to have," the dy remarked.
"It doesn't matter, just have his name written in the ID so we can leave. I want to teach this sve something," the boy remarked.
The dy smiled before turning around and making her way to a door that happened to be in the backs of all the dies who were working on the desk. She was only gone a few minutes before coming right back out with a card.
"This is your ID," she said as she handed me the card.
"It contains your personal information along with your mana signature to distinguish you from others. Make sure you don't lose it because there'll be a hefty fine if you do," the dy reminded me kindly.
I simply nodded and kept it within my pocket.
Soon enough, we once again were at the walls leading out of the city. The soldier who had sent us back once again asked us for identification.
After verifying that our ID cards, he finally let us pass.
The boy wasted no time grabbing my arm and unching us right into a forest that happened to be nearby.
As soon as we passed a few trees, the boy immediately nded before chucking me across the forest. I ended up crashing through a couple of trees and was promptly stopped by a tree trunk.
I coughed up a little bit of blood before I struggled to get up.
"I can't have you acting on your own volition when we get to that Academy, so this is going to be your first and final warning," the boy growled as he raised his hand slowly.
I could feel a dangerous power beginning to emanate from his hand, and before I could even react, he immediately appeared right in front of me and nded his fist right on my gut.
My breath was taken away as I got sent flying through the forest once more, I had to stop myself before I crashed through another tree. As soon as I did, I couldn't help but puke a mouthful of blood on the ground.
The boy immediately nded in front of me and stood tall in front of me.
"This won't be fun unless you fight back, give me your best shot," the boy grinned as he waited for me to get up.
One thing that I had failed to take note of the moment I arrived in this new world was my current level of strength.
"Get up, we don't have all day. We need to get back and meet with my brother, he'll kill us if we're even a minute te," the boy remarked.
I staggered back onto my feet before taking a deep breath.
"Good, at least you're not made of paper," the boy remarked, "now let's see how you fight!"
He kicked the ground and lunged right at me. Seeing his rushing figure coming at me, my instincts immediately set in and I quickly stepped to the side at the st minute to dodge another gut punch from him.
However, the boy didn't stop just there, he immediately twisted his body before delivering a roundhouse kick right at the side of my neck.
The boy's movement's were sloppy, his movements and attacks were indirectly exposing obvious areas of weakness that would easily compromise his attacks. However, the boy's strength was almost ten times greater than mine, resulting in his strength covering up all of his fws. The best I could do was dodge all of his attacks.
"C'mon, is all you're good for dodging?!" The boy teased as he gathered more power in his leg.
